Not the best forum to ask, but, well...
Since my PS install derps so much, I thought of installing a brand new W7 x64 and then throwing Photoshop in there, I also have virtualization thinghy on my CPU.
I don't know if this is a good idea and I will try it anyways, but would like some feedback.
Also, recommend VM software, I'm using latest Virtual Box x64.

It's going to take a performance hit unless you allocate enough resources to the VM.

I mostly don't care about performance, it's more about stability.

You may as well try. If it doesn't run well, you have the option to deactivate Photoshop.

Nope. Why not just use bootcamp?

Never used Photoshop nor any other graphic software. I mostly use(d) VMs for putting up different web servers without messing with my home pc's host OS. I use VMware though, even the player is fine since it now allows you to create VMs instead of just opening existing ones. Never tried Virtual Box. You should be fine anyway...

Which version of Photoshop are you using?
I've got Photoshop CS in a WinXP VM on one machine (VM Ware), it works fine for light stuff. I have another machine, Win7x64, running Photoshop CS5, don't have stability problems with either one.

The big Photoshop thing is RAM, so if you can allocate enough to the VM, you're probably golden. Although it may or may not be more worthwhile to attempt to correct the stability of your overall system. :P

CS6 x64. I have 4 GB Ripjaws DDR3 @1800, I don't have problems allocating enough RAM (2 GB is enough?). I'll run Photoshop almost exclusively when I'll use it - I'll also install a lightweight browser on the VM.

Maybe I can install a lightweight XP x64, then throw CS6 on it? Don't know if it's supported... It will be a hassle configuring it with that tool to strip it of useless stuff.

What's the problem of your PS installation?

crashes randomly, not too much, but enough times to bother me. Always crashes when handling system fonts, too (like, well the "System" font)

No, I would lose too much performance.

Press CTRL+K in photoshop, and allocate it more Ram to use.Mine uses around 1200MB never had any crashing.
