Read it again. The scam claimed it was Steam's birthday, and they were giving away free games to celebrate.

If you received a message from somebody called like "Community Admin" and tell you that you can choose a game from a list for free, Don't trust him, IT'S A SCAM!
I have reported this to Steam Support.
the message:
"Dear Steam User, After 9 years of using steam , Now is our birthday and we offer our gifts for this occasion , Our company offers you a game of your choice : SCAM site "
-- the site looks 98% like the real one, except it needs your email and email password to login. --
