Got the wrong game

I entered a giveaway but got the wrong game, both games have the same name, but the Steam app ID on the giveaway is different from the game I received what should I do?

From the FAQ:

What should I do If I win a game that cannot be activated in my region, or if I receive a gift or key that does not match the game I won?
You should contact the giveaway creator to return the gift, and to inform them of the situation. If the giveaway creator is able to provide you with a replacement gift or key for the same game that can be activated in your region, then you should mark the gift as "Received". In all other cases, the gift should be marked as "Not Received". When marking a gift as "Not Received" it's recommended that you leave an explanation in the giveaway comments as a reference for both the giveaway creator and our support team. If the giveaway creator is not able to provide a replacement gift or key, they may ask your permission to delete the giveaway.

So, contact the creator about the issue and follow these guidelines. 😊

Contact the person that did the giveaway (can post in the giveaway), explain the problem. Basically there are 3 options:

  1. You agree to let them delete the GA.
  2. Gifter can get you the correct one, then all is good.
  3. You mark it as not received.

I think it is possible for the GA creator to ask the GA to be changed to the correct game in exceptional cases.... Ask for that too.

(Meanwhile, do NOT mark the gift as "received").

Unfortunately not, I just went through it. Key was for the sequel game, but I accidentally listed it as the first game.

Support said no, they only change it if it's a different edition (like collectors edition) other than that it's delete, buy them the right game, or take the not received. In my case, they ended up with 2 games (had already used the key).
