Hello, 8 months ago I bought 2 copies of Witcher II when they were on 85% sale on steam and created giveaways. I got 100% value. if Im not wrong yesterday I saw that witcher 2 is marked as a bundled and I got only 15% of value. And there is my question, I through that only games on 90% sale are marked as a bundled, is anything changed or Im just stupid :p

Its 95% decrease, but this includes other regions unfortunately. So if the Russian version was 95% or more compared to the US base price, bundled.

That's true, but some games are added retroactively.

As this list is updated manually, it can happen that the person who updates the list is not aware of a certain sale that took place, so it can take some time until the list is updated.

That just means that you shouldn't have received 100% of the cv in the first place.

Welcome to SteamGifts. If you saw the game on Steam at 80%+ sale, expect it to end up on the bundle list eventually and dropping your CV you got for it.

I'm pretty sure witcher 2 was in a bundle a while ago along with Witcher 1. A look on the Bundles page says me it was in November 2014: http://www.steamgifts.com/bundle-games/search?q=witcher

I just checked in my account, because I thought I bought it in a bundle. I didnt, I bought it in the sales, but that does not change the fact that the game has been on the bundle list for over a year.

At first Witcher 1 and 2 were put on bundle list with date "november 2015". But it turned out that they had that big discount in 2014 for the first time, so date was corrected.

Oh, okay. I bought it on that sale in 2014 and I don''t know why, but I was so sure that it was bundled since then. Well, I stand corrected. ;-)

Maybe they were even cheaper somewhere else previously to your purchase?
Steamgifts can't check for what price you bought your copies.

Besides the rule of thumb is :
If a game costs less than 5% of the US Steam Store price, then it's considered "bundled".

As the prices differ between different steam stores, a game that costs 60$ on the US store, can potentially be sold for only 20$ in the, for example, chinese steam store. If the game goes on sale for 85% globally you could pay less than 5% of the US price in said steam store, thus the game would be considered bundled here.

so you loose your CV even when your ga finishes before game was bundled ?

No, only if someone reveived his/her cv wrongfully, that means when it should have given only 15% of the full cv.
He or she wasn't meant to receive the full value for it in the first place - the bundle list was just not updated.

The bundle list is being updated by just one person, so it might be that he misses something and retroactively adds it. Meaning that if you made a GA for it after the date of the discount / bundle, you will receive less CV. If your GA ended before that date, you still get 100% CV.

Yes but if you buy a game like... XCOM2 now and give it away, you would receive full cv and keep it, even if it gets bundled. As there hasn't been a big sale for it, yet.

My best advise would be to check the prices of sites like g2a.com or mmoga.com. If the game is already below the 5% mark there, but not on the bundle list yet, then you can be 99,9999% sure that it will get added retroactively. The Bundler is just not aware of that sale, yet .

Oh one addition.

If in the future Firaxis decides to lower it's price for XCOM2 permanently to 40$ or something like that then you would only get 40cv from that point on, too. As the full-contributor-value is always 1:1 of the US store, without sales.

Yes.
Except for CoD. As long as the kids manage to get their parents to buy those for them every single year, Activision will keep it at the great discount price of 50 dollars + DLC.

Russian Ruble fallen off greatly, but was okay in 2014 - meaning that the game that costs let's say 20 ruble worth less and less in $ as the time went on. It was during 2015's second half that the currency become so weak that a global 90, even 85% discount applied to RUS prices will surely cost less that 5$ of the US price, effectively making it a 95%+ discount in russia. And while it's only in russia, they can still gift it to other regions or give to eachother, so the rule has to be applied. Hate the politics / russian government for it, not the russian users. They have nothing to do with it, too many stupid kids are flaming them for the effectively 95%->85% bundled % change

Games may also be added to the bundle list if they're available for free during a promotion, or if they're highly discounted in a sale.

Actually it's not stated how much discount they got will cause a bundled game.

IIRC 95% discount (in any region) causes bundled status

It's only a rule of thumb, but it's not a "law".

But, jeah it helps to calculate with that. I would suggest not to buy games that are already -90% off, IF one is looking for full-cv.

It's annoying when games are bundled because of a sale in a region everyone doesn't have access to.
SG should bundle based on region, in that, CV is given based on region as well.
Not sure if my logic works, but if you create a GA for Russion region game, then it affects the CV for the game in that region only.
So if another person creates the same GA for a non-region restricted game, then it shouldn't be affect the CV.

This has been discussed a million times already and you can look it up. Regarding your proposal: That system would beflawed, too as then people would make just groups, invite their friends from their own region and don't mark it as region-restricted. So it would be exploited, too.

Well if you want to read more thoughts about this I'd recommend searching for threads that are about cv already.

I don't know, I understand how this system works and I'm sure it could be better, but then again I don't care enough about cv to actually come up with a great new idea.

Was just my two cents...turns out to be an old argument.
As for the exploitation using groups and inviting friends, this seems like something that can be done even with region games.
Very difficult to get a perfect system given all the different rules, prices, etc. on Steam and, in turn, SG.
But given the logic, almost all games will eventually become bundled, some sooner than others.
Suppose this is fair in getting users to keep being active to maintain a good CV.

Yes but you'd still keep your full-cv.

Was under the impression that once a game is bundled then your CV is lowered as a result, even if you had the GA before the game was bundled.

I stated that here already : http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/du8I8/witcher-ii-cv#NUw6c01

People "lose" cv, when a game receives the bundled status retroactively, that means they shouldn't have received full-cv in the first place.
The bundlelist is updated manually and the person in charge is not always aware of certain sales.

If You make a giveaway for a newly released game, that had no big sale nor price glich yet, you would receive full cv, and keep it forever. or at least until a new system is introduced :P

Thanks for that info, was not aware.
I noticed a price glitch on a non-bundle game last week...so that means then it will be marked as bundled and those guys won't get full CV. :)

I'm not completely sure about it and I have seen some games that weren't added after a price-glitch, but it could happen, I would guess!

Oh.... I remember, that formula 1 racing game, right? 60cv for 1,5$?
Well, we'll see. I wouldn't be too sad if I had made a giveaway for that game when it gets bundled retroactively! But jeah, it may take some months like in the case of witcher 2.

Suppose if they haven't paid that much to start with and knew what they were doing.
But what I don't like is when the reverse happens...I have a non-bundled GA that's $0 on my CV now because it's no longer on Steam, or they ran out of keys or something. Oh well. Win some, lose some. :)

Grand theft Auto?`Oh did they pull it from steam? Hum I'd guess it's, again, a problem with the music licenses like they had with GTA San Andreas?!

Well in this case you can file a support ticket. Support will take the last known Contibutor-Value/US-Storeprice for it and apply that.

I guess it would be 20-30cv or something? But I guess it would be bundled cv as it's probably on the list for some time now!?

Edit: No it's not on the list, didn't know that

It's not bothering me too much, doesn't change my CV level in any case. Maybe later on.

In a forum post? I don't know, maybe it was a support member who does not have the powers to change stuff like this. If I remember correctly, normal "support" member can't do that, but I'm not sure.
And, jeah, a ticket would be the best to solve this, as it can be forwarded to a person who has the powers, a forum post might get lost somehow. Well, what I wanted to say is: that it's not the intention to give 0 cv for a game when it gets pulled from steam.

Jeah no problem! I hope this was some helpful and hopefully correct D: ?! information.

Only cg can fix prices. Based on how quickly he answers tickets (hint: it takes him months and months to answer them), it would be faster just to wait for the keys to come back in stock.

Any user can make a region locked giveaway just by trading for a gift. It isn't just one set of users that could use them.

I see the flaw in my idea, since those users could also not make them region-restricted and only have their friends win it, or groups.
But, as I state in my statement above, eventually all games will become bundled, so it doesn't really matter in the long run.

Actually from a sample of bundle game rate vs. Steam release rate I did back at the start of 2015, Steam releases outpace bundling. I think Steam releases have been more rapid since then, so your scenario of everything in the Steam store being bundled should not occur.

Relax. This has happened in the past dozens of times. If you want to be on a safer side - do not buy games specifically for giveaways if these games are discounted beyond 66%. 1$ tier of bundles seems to be a slightly better investment that won't bring any surprises like lost CV.

Comment has been collapsed.

Well but they only started bundling region-locked prices not too long ago and some people didn't know that at the time. Also, "the Bundler" gets wrong information from people quite often it looks like, that's why I lost 700$ (real) CV in the past days :D

Just reminds me again how much I hate the CV system and wish there was just none (that statement comes from level 9).

I personally like the CV system. If you want to make a GA for CV, just check the prices. Of course it's sad when a game gets removed from steam and you lose CV due to it, but that doesn't happen too often.

Exactly. If you want to get some CV, just get some bundles and give it away. I personally only give stuff away because I like giving it away. I don't care about my CV at all. I also only give bundle leftovers so far (no money to buy a game just for giving it away, I need to gain something from it as well), but that will most likely change, but not to increase my CV.

The fact is as long as there's Contributor levels and it works as a requirement for joining some giveaways most users will buy games to Lvl up and get eligible for those GAs.

That's not true. Regional prices are rarely lover than -75% from US prices. What do we need to get game bundled?
price is 5% from US price, or lower. If it's a regional price, then US price should be 20% from full. So, the threshold is about 80% discount. Thus, if discount is 80% - think twice, if it's below that - you're safe (unless there is a coupon that stacks with discounts).

this percentage rule never existed since I arrived here. in fact, there are no rule about bundle.
as far as I know, anything can be bundled any time for any reason and marked with any date, retroactively.
everything you giveaway is pretty much subject to the bundle list, no matter what is.
