Is Borderlands 2 worth it solo?

I played the original Borderlands with a couple of friends, and it was a blast. Unfortunately, I didn't buy Borderlands 2 at launch as opposed to the friends I completed Borderlands 1 with. Seeing how BL2 is currently on flash sale, I was wondering if it's worth playing solo. Any thoughts? Thanks!

EDIT: Wow. I did not expect this many responses. Let alone, how little time it took for all of you to respond. An overwhelming majority of you say it's still fine solo, so I think I'll go for the purchase!

Worth playing solo or with a friend the first Time at your way(mine 100+ hours),then go coop with randoms or more firends.
But wait till they released Goty edition or at least get with season pass or Vault hunters upgrade included in season pass(+11 lvls).

I bought it the other day and have been having a load of fun soloing it as Zer0. Then again I enjoy soloing games anyway (soloed Borderlands 1 for most of my playtime).

Edit: if you don't mind playing with someone without a mic and can play around 16:00 British Summer Time, hit me with a friend request when you get to about level 10 and I'll co-op with you on my Zer0 sniping character. (I'm level 10 at the moment)
