So for some reason, I have black bars on the sides. I've tried fixing the resolution, but it still remains the same.
Anyone know how to fix it?

I had similar problems with a few games. Do you mean around all sides of the screen ? If so, try the following tricks :

  • In your GPU control panel, find the scaling options, fiddle with the "underscan/overscan" slider.
  • Try enabling GPU scaling.
  • If the game allows you to, try to run it windowed borderless.
  • Download WindowedBorderlessGaming

I had the same problem with Silent Hill Homecoming and Metal Gear Rising. Two things solved it for me : either plugging my screen via a DVI cable instead of the HDMI cable, or using WindowedBorderlessGaming. I used WindowedBorderlessGaming.

At the moment, it's just doing it to the top and bottom.

I think ingame options find something like 4:3 and change it to 16:9 or 16:10 :D

Probably a problem with your aspect ratio, as others have mentioned. Mess around with it (4:3, 16:9, 16:10) until you find the right one

I don't have Payday 2 installed, but it should be under your graphics options.

Though now that I look at Payday 1, it didn't have aspect ratio settings...

Neither does Payday 2. It only has resolution settings.

In:
C:\Users[yourWindowsUsername]\AppData\Local\PAYDAY 2\renderer_settings.xml

Make sure your correct resolution and refresh rate is in it. worked for me.

The only trouble in Payday 2 is CTD all Heist no reason (no always, rare) and Shadow Raid ALWAYS CTD no reason.

Weird. Have you tried resetting the options to default and re-configring?

You could also try verifiying the game cache and maybe updating/reintalling video drivers.

Which GPU are you using?
