so i bought a graphic card and got far cry 3 for free, and when i used it it was uplay activate only, i havent used the key yet, im wondering if anyone has had experience with this.

if i were to contact ubi support and tell them about it and ask if they could trade my key for a steam activation key, do you think they would do it?

i much rather have a steam key, so im at a stand still weather to attempt to ask them for a key switch, havent used the key yet to activate my game on uplay im hoping they will accept it and help me out, im sure they have steam keys for the game after all v__v

yes its uplay only. they will not let you upgrade your FREE key to a steam one, they simply wont do it. they gain nothing from it, and its not a simple matter of 'making' a steam key for you. its uplay or nothing, unless you find someone stup..sorry.. kind... enough to swap your uplay key for their steam gift.

if they did swap it, then everyone would upgrade. Even if you did get a steam key you still have to use UPLAY. GL.

"Hey uPlay, I don't want to use your service, can you give me access to your competitor instead?"

Good luck!

cuz it would be free? its free on their service so it wouldnt be like they gain anything anyways lol,
at least if they change it to steam that means someday i could still buy it from uplay for real. could be an investment chance for them lol

I bet if you use that exact same explanation while talking to uPlay support they'd do it.

Activation is simple. You go to the Nvidia site, toss in your Nvidia promo key for a promo code. Then you click the link, add the listed game, toss in your promo code, and check out. Here you are giving your Uplay key.
You then download the game files, install, start it up. From there you are giving a prompt to log into uplay, and then for your uplay game key which will add it to the account.

No, they will not trade their promo coupon for a steam key. EVER.
The Steam version still requires the use of Uplay and all its slag.

As much as I hate uplay, its probably best to just have it on Uplay and not through steam so that you dont have to run both clients on top of each other. Pretty much the only silver lining in it.

Well, they want you to use their service platform after all...

It's very simple:

There are no Steam keys when it comes to Ubisoft games.

This means Ubisoft can't do anything for you.

When you launch the Steam version, all it does it launch UPlay and it run from there. If you activate your UPlay code and add a shortcut to Steam, the only thing you will be missing is having your game time tracked. There are no Steam achievements or anything like that.
