Which Email service do you think is the best?

View Results
Outlook
Gmail
Yahoo

AHaving experience with @outlook, @hotmail, @gmail and @yahoo, I can say there's not enough noticeable difference with the back-end, but of those, the gmail client is best.
But, the outlook software (part of office) is fantastic; it's defintely ahead of the other web-based clients.

GMAIL - for all those on yahoo and outlook you can link those accounts with gmail so you never have to login to those other sites and use their crappy interface that's what I do. Outlook gui is just terrible always loading crap like 5 times before it actually loads it or it fails to load it. Gmail is just instant.

Works other way around too. Gmail's automatic sorting can be great if you use it as a web browser, but in a mail client where traditional folder structure is used, it can lead to strange discrepancies. So I just forward my Gmail letters to my Hotmail account, connected to MS Outlook.

gmx, hotmail, gmail, live, yahoo, ip-providers domain .. all handled by Thunderbird

gmail is probably the most reliable and idiot safe mail
(nsa has backups of most mail domains anyway)

oh and if not alredy, all MS mail domains (outlook, hotmail, live, skype, ??)
will provide the same functionality at least the different ms ones i used did

I've been using Gmail and Yahoo for years. In the past I would occasionally use Hotmail, but at some point I started getting too much spam. I eventually stopped using it completely some time ago. It's the worst email service I've ever used. Gmail and Yahoo are much better.

Gmail works well with its standalone Android/iOS app, but Inbox can help it even better.

I use Yahoo for my gaming accounts though, Gmail for financial related info.

gmail

Reasons:

  • Very much storage space
  • Very good working spam filter
  • not as much spam than with the other sites, I used before (web and gmx)

Switched to Gmail when I got an invite for it back when it required one. Haven't had any complaints ever since, their spam filter works much better than any of the Czech services I was using before. Also enough storage to not have to worry about deleting things ever.

I got two main mail accounts. One I got from school (and is used mainly for school related stuff) and one of our internet provider (for everything else). From the ones you listed, I'd say gmail is the best. I especially like it that you get a notification on your phone if you have your android coupled with that account.

I use both Gmail and an old Hotmail/Outlook e-mail the hotmail is by far my main account although I prefer the gmail.

I will add that I also use the windows 10 mail client and it is terrible....I recently tried to use thunderbird but could not get it to work with my account.

I had like 25+ services until early 2004 when I got my Gmail account and never looked back. It's amazing.

Are you running your own email server with your domain?

You can use Gmail (web client) with your own domain, but you'll need to pay for it. You can do the same with other leading email services.

Wow, sounds like a lot of headache. On one hand it must be satisfying. On the other hand is it worth the effort when using a paid solution would mean you have people who take care of everything (security updates, backup, server availability etc) 24x7?

I use hotmail principally for contact people, registration to web sites, i use gmail for hight account like steam, origin, uplay, paypal, humble bundle, etc (more security) and I use my own server domain just for fun, I don't have secured this.

Your Own Domain.... I have been renewing the same couple of domain names for the sole purpose of email for years now. Unlimited addresses via a Catch-all, either forwarded too a service of your choice or use your domain providers service. xD
