The email I got implied it was for having been subscribed to their newsletter but I don't think any specifics have been mentioned anywhere so far. It could be for having been subscribed for x amount of time, or if you're subscribed and spent x amount of money. It may be they just sent the emails out to random subscribers or perhaps they're sending more out each day on the run-up to Christmas. Hopefully they'll include details in their next blog post^^

just RE-subbed after un-subbing, see if it does anything. ive purchased like 6 bundles in the last month

I don't think it matters if you've made purchases from their site -- the key seems to be whether you're subscribed to their newsletter.
My e-mail said "Ho-ho-holy moly, you got a gaming gift! It's our way of saying thank you for being an awesome email subscriber"
