I think it might be because it reinstalls c++, direct X and such with every single game. Apparently it's best not to uninstall them? I'm not entirely sure

I have those installed to a different directory than the one I'm counting. I think it tries to install into program files, but since my steam drive isn't my windows drive, it just installs straight onto the drive each time :(

Get a HDD space visualizer (I recommend WinDirStat) to help find some clutter. Even when you remove games from Steam it keeps some local files (usually patches that aren't on the original installation manifest). Every time I reinstall/uninstall TF2 it leaves behind at least 2GB and every time I wouldn't think to look at my Steam files if it wasn't for WinDirStat.
EDIT: Also, to your question, here's a visual of my Steam folder with local data expanded for reference :P And yes, I have a tiny drive on this rig.

That is by far the coolest thing I have seen this week.

Like some others I got a 2 TB HDD with Steam on so space is not a problem. My Steam-folder takes upp about 250 GB.

Play and finish those games, and delete to make room for others?

i have 120 steam games, but i have no idea how much memory they would all take. i never install more than 5-10 of them at once. i wish there was a way to find out how much memory it would take, bcs i dont feel like spending an hour calculating it myself.

Drive for Steam is 3TB, here's my disk space usage from Steam
Edit: every game I have on Steam IS installed (the screenshot doesn't show Offspring Fling installed because I just activated the key, it's installing now, but it's only 91MB, so it wont affect my space much.

Is the drive only for steam? Cuz you're using a fifth of the space.

Mine is 127GB with only half of my games installed

Weighing in at 220 GB, Steam takes up more than 50% of my used space. Of my 427 used GB, Steam takes up slightly more than everything else combined. Wow. And I just bought Valve complete, THQ complete, and 2K super mega pack. And I plan to install the other 74 games I own. How big is everyone else's steam hard drive?
On a related note, is there any way to mass install games? Especially helpful if anyone knows how to get rid of 2+ downloads suspending each other.
