I love the concept of puzzles on some of these giveaways, however I am a bit flummoxed by how one constructs a link from a puzzle in general.

I get the impression that links should work like this:

http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/XXXXX

but the only two I've guessed so far were like this:

http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/XXXXX/somethingelse

where something else is a username or other word hinted at in the puzzle. Can both methods for a link work? Or is only the second example valid?

you need a "/" at the end of the former. Then it will work

The "somethingelse" part doesn't matter at all

What if the site eventually generates a giveaway with the url code XXXXX and it's a private giveaway hidden behind a puzzle - are you leaking a future giveaway...?

Please, I'm trying to discuss hypothetical but not unlikely scenarios. We all know HL3 is never coming...

Is ok if I start a puzzle today or there are too much active puzzles already, Mr kukeemon?

There is never such a thing as "too much active puzzles"!

The problem is either "not enough puzzlers" or "not enough time".

Haven't tried to solve a "real" puzzle in a while myself due to IRL stuff

The first link needs a '/' in the end for it to work.

This link, http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/XXXXX, requires a "/" at the end in order to work. Everything that comes after that is irrelevant, for the most part.

Edit: aaaaand I'm late, of course.....
