Hi. Same as before, let's try this puzzle again. This time there are 4 gifts in total - 2 bundled and 2 not bundled. Level 2.

Please do not share hints

(: :)
5 X 3 1 X 8 k b e c Q w 3 2 0 d K 1 i S
2 1 1 1 2 2 2 1 1 2 2 1 1 2 2 1 1 2 2 1

Solution (kinda):

the logic is kinda simple. let's, for example, take this part:
d K 1 i S
1 1 2 2 1
this part leads to this giveaway code: Dk1is

easy now?

This one did at least help me realize what I thought was getting part of the answer last time was wrong. Back to figuring out how to approach this.

I still have no idea what I am supposed to be doing. I see something that looks obvious, but I can't figure out how to make it work. I have tried everything I can think of from years of solving puzzles on this site as well as looking through the puzzle solving guide again and nothing works.

Does the music have anything to do with the puzzle?

I figured that out, I did everything what came to mind with it but no results. I must be missing something, probably as obvious as the hint. Anyways I invested so much time I'm waiting for a solution once you'll stop using this type of puzzle :D get's ready to facepalm

I am having the same problem. I have spent hours trying to solve this and the last one and I have a pretty good idea of what needs to be done, but I just can't figure out the correct way to do it.

I can't figure it out either. I already knew there were 4 gifts and what you meant by saying that, I already knew how the two sets of characters lined up before you added the chart, and I have the previous puzzle saved in a text file, but none of that helps me. What we are stuck on is what to do with the 1 and 2s. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing works.

I think your definition of pretty easy is possibly very different from mine 😁
I thought I saw a logical way to use the information given, but the result doesn't work, so...
No idea!

Bump for solved. I was way beyond what you would call overthinking of a problem.

OK, I know we're technically not supposed to share hints but I have 1 teeny tiny piece of advice to help people on their way:
Everything I can think of is wrong, so don't waste your time doing all those things. They're all wrong. All of them. 100%

It's been more than a week since I've been stuck in this puzzle. Still have no idea what to do. Tried everything I could think of.
Based on your previous mood music #1 thread, I guess there won't be any solution posted after the puzzle ends right?

I'm in the same situation. I have spent many hours trying to figure these two puzzles out and it really bothers me that I can't solve it because apparently it's supposed to be easy. I come back to this thread almost every day and try to see if I can think of something new, but nothing works.

At first I thought it was Caesar's Code, after the hint I was like "no, it can't mean lowercase, uppercase – how the hell I do lowercase number?" and I didn't even try to just leave it as it is :D

I was doing it for fun mostly anyway – first time in a loooong time I got hooked by a puzzle :P

I also ruled out the numbers representing case when I saw numbers had both 1s and 2s. Guess I shouldn't have, but I could think of so many other ways to use the numbers to manipulate the top row: add that number to each, subtract from each, group all the 1s/2s together, group the 1s/2s together but read one in reverse (because of the (: :) row), skip that many characters forward/backward in the top row to get the next character (both inclusive and exclusive). I figured with so many options (and others I hadn't even thought of), the numbers not being all 1s or all 2s made that unlikely. I dishonored myself by not at least trying!

But thank you for the puzzle :)

I can't believe I didn't get that. Using 1 and 2 as uppercase and lowercase was the first thing I tried, but I never thought of changing them in that way. The next easiest solution was to shift the characters both forwards and backwards by 1 or 2 characters, but that didn't work. Then in the previous puzzle, you wrote "pmub" with a smiley face and you added forwards and backwards smiley faces above the code, so I thought that might be a hint that something needs to be reversed, so I tried everything I could think of again, but reversing the codes this time.

I knew it was sets of 5 character codes, so I even tried brute forcing it by taking the first 5 and ordering them in every possible order. Then I did the same again with uppercase and lowercase switched. I tried countless other things that I can't even remember now.

Hmm, this solution doesn't work on the first puzzle. I am still confused, lol.

first puzzle has reverse order -> what 1 does here, 2 does on first an vice versa

Oh, I didn't realize you were doing it that way. I thought the number was supposed to be how many times it needed to be switched because that works for this puzzle.

I actually tried the solution for this puzzle on the first puzzle, but because it didn't work and I thought the two puzzles were the same, I didn't try it again here :(
