I'd like to ask you guys what are some of your favorite TV shows and a reason for why that show is your favorite :D

In no particular order, some of my favorites are:

Legend Of Korra: This show being a sequel to Avatar The Last Airbender already got me hyped when I first heard about it, but when I actually got to see it I got hooked with the Steampunk aesthethic and specially the soundtrack (Fun Fact: I actually made a Hip-Hop version of the Ending Theme, which you can download or buy here: https://ab20music.bandcamp.com/track/dream).

Rick And Morty: Definitely one of the best current Adult Swim shows, I think what I like the most about the show is (obviously) the humor. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like dark comedy or constant burps, but if you have a dark sense of humor, this is the perfect show for you!

Steven Universe: There was a time before the fanbase became as toxic as it is today, and in those days the show used to be way better than how it is right now. I'd recommend you to watch it if you like original music since this show is filled with OG Music everywhere (Another Fun Fact: I made another version of one of this show's themes too, so if you'd like to check it out, you can do it over here: https://corenelson.bandcamp.com/track/giant-woman-edit).

Feel free to recommend us your favorite TV show down in the comments!

I don't really know if Legend Of Korra is Anime since it's not made in Japan, but I guess the art style is what counts :)
I heard a lot about Lucifer, is it any good?

Oh dear! I'm afraid I wouldn't even know where to start... I watch too much damn TV. :D

Are you talking about current shows that are still airing / renewed? Shows from the past? Or both?

Any TV Show, cancelled, new, renewed, anything! I guess the only rule should be that the show had to be first-aired in TV

haha well then it would end up turning into an epically long list. Maybe you would be interested in this... http://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat/profile/AFRLme

It's a free tv service that I use to keep track of the shows I watch, which episodes I've watched & lets me know when stuff is airing & when new shows are coming out, etc. It also has an amusing counter thing that tells you how many actual hours & working hours you've spent watching tv.

Anyway... a lot of my favorite shows tend to be set in the past, such as: Hell on Wheels, Spartacus, Murdoch Mysteries, Life on Mars (uk version), Deadwood, etc. As I said though I watch a lot of stuff including Arrow, The Flash, Breaking Bad & so on & so on. I even watch some right load of tripe sometimes (I usually end up dropping them eventually though when something better starts airing).

  • edit: forgot to include my reasons why, but it's simple really: I like TV because a season of a TV series - whether it's 6-10 episodes (typical uk amount) or 10 to 20+ episodes (us) - lasts longer than any movie ( except maybe "once upon a time in america" or some Japanese film I watched years ago that lasted roughly 5 grueling hours) & thus I get more enjoyment out of them & sometimes the story & characters are allowed to build up over an entire season or two unlike the 5 minutes of collage nonsense you often get in movies.

You prefer korra over Aang? o.o Some of my favs: Parks and rec. , Gravity Falls, Adventures Time, South Park, Community....

Aang is better when it comes to storytelling, but personally I loved the ambient Korra had, with all the Steampunk there I just couldn't handle myself haha. And as I said in the post, I loved the soundtrack of Korra too and I did a Hip-Hop version of the Ending Theme of Korra, I actually posted it in the Korra Subreddit and people over there are loving my version!
I guess I don't have a correct answer, I'd say that in storytelling it's Aang for sure, but regarding artstyle I like Korra's more than Aang's :)

Game of Thrones: Love the story/all the characters. Always on the edge of your seat. I love the political intrigue. Also love the books. :D

Breaking Bad: Emotions everywhere. I finished watching it a year ago and still think about it quite often to this day. I really want to rewatch it, it's just emotionally draining.

Hannibal: I just love Hannibal and Will so much, it's also pretentious but not in a bad way. The writer talked about how they poke fun at the pretentiousness of it all, it's very artsy/gory but wonderful.

Sherlock/Elementary: Love both of these duos. Wonderful chemistry between one another, love trying to solve the mysteries myself. I didn't enjoy Season 3 of Sherlock very much though sadly.

Merlin: Absolutely hilarious. Love all the characters, just good (and slightly cheesy) fantasy fun.

Doctor Who: I'll be honest I stopped watching after the newest doctor, I'll watch it eventually but not the biggest fan. I love the newer series from 2005, seasons 1-7. It's just a feel good show with lots of amazing characters, dorky humour/slightly terrible special effects but in a warm, fuzzy, enjoyable way.

I'll be honest I haven't watched really any tv for a year now. I still need to watch Korra, I only watched the first 2 episodes but wasn't the biggest fan. :( Avatar: The Last Airbender is also one of my favourite shows, it's one of the few that I watched each episode coming out with my entire family and have since watched it a few times. Love the humour/story.

My absolute favorite TV show is House M.D. Because just like its titular protagonist, it's pure genius: brilliantly written, acted and directed, beautifully crafted in all its aspects. It's not a show about medicine, but a show about LIFE...as it is, with good and bad. But don't get me wrong: as the doctor that I myself am, I also heavily enjoyed this show because it payed respect to this profession and the creators did their research thoroughly. Unlike, some other shows about medicine that were nothing more than hospital soap-operas (looking at you, Grey's shitty Anatomy).

I really liked Breaking Bad too, because just like House, it was almost perfectly crafted. But the theme of the series made it much harder to identify with these characters (and not just for me as a doctor), since most people are NOT drug dealers, criminals or total sociopaths.

Firefly: way ahead of its time. It getting canceled is one of the worst crimes in television history

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: hard to explain why it's so good, you really have to watch it. Joss Whedon is a GOD.

Prison Break: first season was very close to perfection. It wast never as good after that, but still enjoyable.

Chuck: it's REALLY funny, especially if you're a major nerd like me

Friends: BEST SITCOM EVER, enough said

Seinfeld: second best sitcom ever, worst people in the world, hysterically funny

Daredevil: WOW... Just..WOW!!! This is how every super-hero show EVER should be. It just blew everything else that came before it out of the water. I used to think that it just couldn't get any better than Smallville or Arrow. I WAS WRONG!!!!!

How I Met your Mother: as close to Friends perfection as possible.

Dr. Who: the writing struggles heavily to make sense at times, but it's completely worth it on David Tennant's performance alone.

Hercules The Legendary Journey and Xena The Warrior Princess: if you like both Greek mythology and Sam Raimi's work, then there's no way to not love these two.

I'm gonna stop there, but I like many, many more shows.

  1. Mr. Robot. Everything about this show is amazing. The music, the characters, the storyline. It's something I'd happily call a masterpiece, it's one of the few things I've watched more than once, and it's only on it's first season! It follows the mind of a trouble, young, anti-social computer programmer called Elliot Anderson, and his journey hacking. What I love about it, is that the show manages to somehow accurately portray hacking without the cringe and without being boring. And oh boy, the twists! I highly recommend watching it if you haven't already. It's an amazing, intense, thrilling journey.

  2. Rick & Morty. You watch this show, so you should know why it's simply amazing. The humour is great, but also the character progression, the art, how it satirises Sci-Fi tropes. One of the best adult cartoons ever imo, and definitely the best right now. It's incredibly funny and wacky, yet it manages to have a lot of depth and meaning too.

  3. Star Trek: TNG. Does this show need an introduction? I came late to it, and only started watching it last year, but oh wow, it's still amazing and worth watching. It's everything you'd want out of a Sci-Fi show. Exploration, battles, a lot of aliens... It also holds a sort of cheerful, anything-is-possible vibe to it which I love.

Other favourite shows: TWD, GoT, Daredevil, BCS, HoC, Fargo, Sherlock, The Office... Last three were very close to being in the top 3.

A friend of mine just told me that Mr. Robot is a great show, I only heard the name of the show and I haven't watched anything about it, I guess I'll give it a try!
And yeah, I not only love the humor of Rick and Morty, but the satire of cliches that they use and how they execute them, it's simply one of the best shows right now.

The Favourites

Sherlock: An updated modernisation of Sherlock Holmes was bound to interest me as someone who especially enjoyed watching Basil Rathbone's Holmes. Straight from the first episode I was hooked on the superbly written and acted show which wasn't just enjoyed by me, but a couple of my friends who were convinced that they would hate it; by the time the episode had ended they hated themselves for saying that. Even with the much weaker third season I would give it a 9.5/10.

Cowboy Bebop: I don't watch much anime. The repetitive characters and typical "demon/angel" or completely wacky story lines that remind me of those "random story generators" never usually interests me (and yes, I do acknowledge that Cowboy Bebop has a fairly repetitive story formula). However, Cowboy Bebop had interesting characters, badass action and some amazing jazz to top it off which I can rarely find from most anime. These things combined make me give Cowboy Bebop a 9.3/10.

House of Cards: Sophisticated, beautifully shot and well acted; House of Cards is definitely a must-watch up until a slightly disappointing season three. 9.2/10.

The Enjoyable Ones

  • Seinfield - 9/10
  • The Office (UK) - 8.5/10
  • The X-Files - 8.5/10
  • Black Books - 8.5/10
  • House MD - 8.5/10
  • IT Crowd - 8.4/10

The shows that I think will become favourites once I get around to watching them

  • Hannibal
  • True Detective
  • The Wire
  • Breaking Bad
  • Game of Thrones

Also the list would probably be twice as long if I had seen all the series I'm interested in. Sherlock, Agents Carter, Firefly and Constantine are okay but nothing special.

I don't even have a TV. XD

But I guess my favourite TV show which I occasionally catch when I go home for the holidays and which I used to watch regularly before is Leverage. It's just really funny and clever all the time (except when it decides it's time for a serious episode, but whatever- those are still clever).
