Today I can celebrate 12 years of service for Gabe and I finally reached level 7 at SG (110 on Steam ;) ). Normaly I would decide to make a train, but its so common. Tell my why you joined the steam & steamgift community. Because of friends? You want to play CS 1.6 (oldschool :P) or DotA? What was your reason? I will add everyone who tells me his story to my whitelist and create a giveaway for Batman™: Arkham Origins Blackgate - Deluxe Edition. If you already own it, feel free to tell us your story anyway :) Have a nice day!

edith say: Decided to make a private giveaway because it would took me to much time to whitelist everyone! :D

I got tired of my CDs and started to look up some of them in a digitally distrubuted format. Steam had a sale on the Still Life package, so I registered another account (I lost my old one ages ago, but it didn't have any games anyway). That's pretty much it.

I saw and heard about all those cool games my brother played, and he pulled me in when one of his favorites, ToME cost like 50 cents. Then things uh... Escalated. I tried to look all over for free games and stuff, and inevitably found Steamgifts. Now I'm addicted a casual gifter. Please help me (0_0)

I originally joined Steam in order to play CS 1.6 with my friends and Steam was the required platform for that back in the days. Unfortunately my old account was incredibly messy so I made a new one a few years ago which has become my main account, so even though I technically do have 12 years I only have 2 recorded years on my main account ;_;

I got into a mmorpg - could be played without steam but then steam had a sale for something I "needed" at the time ... the rest is history, as they say, later friends told me about SG and here I am enjoying puzzles and being part of the community

I joined Steam like 3 years ago because a friend of mine invited me to play Dota2, the game I've never played before, and then I've bought CS:GO, that's how my slavery started =d

10 years (and 11 months) of service, my reason for Steam - on April 20, 2005 I activated my copy of Half-Life 2 that came with my ATI graphics card.

Was all downhill from there. Incidentally, Half-Life 2 on a dial-up modem took a lifetime to install.

Haha :D I bought the Orange Box! But I know the struggle. I watched several pro games/matches 2000/2001 at CS 1.5. Streams this time were fucked up by lags I cant imagine today :D Frozen monitor for like 5 seconds and than the question to my friends "What happened?" good old day

Friends wanted me to play magicka with them, but I didn't want to install a new platform for one game. Later on they wanted me to play several other games with them on steam, and so it began 4 years ago. Still don't have magicka

My one year old son forced me to put all of my CDs into the basement. At that time I started buying loads of games I actually already owned on steam to be able to play those any time I want to. Originally I just joined Steam because one of my games forced me to do so, but it became my favourite gaming platform.

I started using steamgifts just a fee months ago. I still had 3 copies of Windborne that I wanted to gift to others (still got one) and was hoping to get a chance on Ori or Deadpool since there was a sale on steam and I was totally broke. I had no clue if those various bundle sites at that time. In the end I bought Deadpool on Humble a few weeks later and still hope to win Ori and the blind forest ;-)

I joined steam to check out the community and see if I could find some cheap FPS games.
Never really found community and quit playing FPS after that :P
I'm an oldschool CoD2/BF42 players that likes opposites, in CoD2 I was a sniper, in BF42 I liked racing around in tanks :D
All this skill based reaction gaming was not for me...skills, bah!
(mind you I had sniper skills, but those don't work with an AK :P)

I had to have Steam as it was needed for CS, Steam was released on my birthday Sept 12th so I was up all night from the 11th getting drunk, playing CS and waiting for it Steam to be released, which after several crashes trying to install and low internet (altho 256k was a hell of alot better than most people's 56k back then) I finally got Steam at7.58am. I was still up until the next morning playin CS ... The good old days :D

Back then i was like...naa i dont want to install steam, i dont need it, I want hard copies of my games. but then a friend of mine gifted CS:GO to me. And told me it were like the old 1.6 we used to play at our LAN partys in our youth just with better graphics. I gave it a shot and well now i got a library with over 200 steam games :D

Not interested in batman, but here's the short story.

I really started heavily to buy bundles of games during the last years due to consistent lovely indie gaming, and many times there's games in them that I don't plan to play. I really wanted to find a place to get rid of those maybe for people who "would" play them (instead of getting countless games in steam library that I will never play), so I accidentally found this site. I said why not.

But in the end, I lose more time for reading threads here and solving puzzles, instead of just entering or giving GAs. It's indeed weird and very time consuming (especially the puzzles part).... :O

Well I use to be a pirate, always playing illegal games, but then one year my aunt bought me a game that needs steam ,so after playing the game and getting achievements I quite liked the system, but had no money to buy games since I was a student to lazy to work XD, then my friends started giving me games to keep me motivated to use steam, I still wanted more games though so the same friend introduced me to steam , shortly after joining I won Torchlight 2 and I was really happy about that, since then I have just been playing legal Steam games , no illegal pirate copy games for me anymore :) , so in short its all because of my cool friend :)

I joined steam when i purchased a phisical copy of half-life years ago. I started playing CS , then 1.5 and 1.6. A few years later i lost my account , the e-mail i had on steam was associated with an ISP that was sold and that address was gone so i couldn't recover the account. and i couldn't login either.

I've not been a very active steam user before GabeN actually launched closed beta of Dota 2, that was my "starting point", even though I had an account a while before because of a need to have it to play one game or another, can't even remember which one was that.

Then... Oh boy, look at me now. I lost my way ;_;

I joined steam to play CSS - and played it for years after that. Till date, I still have the most fun playing CSS with friends - especially custom maps such as the Matrix map.

I got so good at css, I could play without a mouse, using my laptop touchpad.

Joined Steam in 2010 for Portal, got sick of searching "free" downloads!
From 2013 I started to fill my Account with Humble Bundles and play Serious Sam (yeah, I'm always behind - going to play Far Cry Primal in 2020...)
And 2 months ago I recognized, I can farm cards :)

Joined Steamgifts 2 years ago while searching for free games (poor student). Had to activate some more bundles to reach the $100 threshold.
And about a month ago I realized it is fun to make giveaways (and lately ultra blue puzzles :D )
