If you have paused you should have received an email that you paused your subscription. So just contact the Humble support and if they ask forward them their email.

Humble did credit my subscription back 1 month, so all is well for me thankfully.

I actually got a coupon deal for $6 for the next 2 months each, I resumed my paused membership and checked in the settings, said my next bill would be today for $6. They ended up charging $11.99 for me...

That happened to me last month. I was certain I paused, but got charged for the month anyway. It turned out that I hadn't actually confirmed the pause - the confirmation steps seem to be deliberately designed to be confusing: when you select the pause option, it takes you to a screen that explains what will happen (discount reset, no Trove, etc), with a button to confirm. Hitting that button takes you to a page telling you when your next billing date will be after your pause is over. THAT screen is the deceptive one - it is worded in s way to that makes it seem like you have paused fir the month, but there is a button under it that says "pause my subscription" (or something like that). If you leave without clicking that button (like I did last month), then you haven't paused!

If you did successfully pause, you should have got an email from Humble confirming it. If you have that email, then definitely contact Humble and ask for a refund. If you didn't get the email but haven't claimed any games yet, you could try asking for a refund anyway (no promises that they will give it to you, though).

I bet THIS is what happened to some folks. Deceptive 3rd or 4th screen leading the customer to think the account has been successful paused. This practice irritates me enough to make me change from permanent pause to cancelled.

Yeah, that experience has me very close to fully canceling as well.

Just a note on pausing/canceling subscriptions. They usually ask “are you sure?” once or twice before actually doing it. I’ve been caught before this way and I’m pretty sure at least once with humble. Lol

No reason to pause any longer. Just cancel next month instead, and resub if you want a future bundle.

Doesn't work if you are on a yearly sub, and want to save those months - you have to pause each month.

Then he'd not be charged though, as he had already paid.

Yep, same here. I definitely paused, and yet now I'm having to go through with a reclaim request.

Same. Funny how many of us paused and accidentally got billed anyway. Ooops. Probably a technical glitch.
Nothing at all to do with the fact their miserable scheme of disappearing discount hasn't stopped people from pausing, right?

Yeah, that's why I only use single-use e-cards with them. This way, every time they want to charge me they need me to provide them a new number, otherwise it's transaction denied ^^
Still it's sad that such dodgy business can go on and on for so long. Any normal "small" business would get banned by Stripe for far less :x

That's a good way to avoid the issue, for sure. I will look into it.
Anyway I am pausing every month basically so might as well cancel it and renew only when/IF I see something worth the price in a future month.

This bundle has been their lowest point so far. Has been a while they didn't appeal like this thru the whole bundle...

They´ve sent out a mail stating "Keys are back in stock for Humble Choice May 22" with a link ending with ..keys
Maybe clicking that link would renew the sub automatically? oO

Not affected, just something that crossed my mind.

Same thing here - will definitely start using one-use card numbers with them. I try to like them but they keep making it hard :/

Update - they just refunded me. Kinda sucks. I've made sure to remove my credit card information from my profile so that doesn't repeat

Same thing happened to me once, a year or some ago. I paused like usual, got the message and the email, and still was charged some time later for that month. Got pissed, but didn't fight it. Instead, I canceled my subscription (Classic), and never looked back. Good riddance.

Check billing history here: https://www.humblebundle.com/user/subscriptions/humble_monthly/billing

If you paused it will have an entry "Paused Membership" and a date. Ditto for "Resumed Membership".

Oh wow, never knew that link existed. Purchases link is easy to find, but doesn't show pauses. Thank you!

Hasn't happened to me, but nice to know that's there.

I think this happened to me last month and this month. I always watch a Youtube video with a review of the bundle and then decide to add the games I like to my whitelist en pause my subscription. But the last two month I got billed and was suprised by it twice. I always thought it was me, but now I wonder...

Since nobody else has mentioned it, I'll say how pausing works now (for other peoples' sake) - Pausing is done by:

  • Clicking the Person icon in upper right

  • Select Settings

  • Go down to Humble Choice section, click Manage Your Plan

  • Click Skip a Month
