I searched and didn't see another thread about this, but I'm sure a lot of you have heard though that the new Command & Conquer game, the free-to-play one, was cancelled about a week ago and the studio shut down. They claimed it was because of a difference of vision of what C&C meant to us and them and they wanted to make the game for us, which I approve of. Conflicting reports say otherwise, that a now-deleted forum thread from a dev said it was someone above them in EA trying to force microtransactions on the game (and other reports conflict about said, saying it was a user trolling and not a dev at all). Either way, I doubt C&C is forever dead and I still think that the ideas that Victory were going to look at next are still going to be looked at, so I have hope for the future of the franchise still.

But does anyone care about this game? Was anyone in the beta and thought it had promise? Personally, I thought the whole thing was a waste of time. I'd have tried it out, but a multiplayer-only RTS isn't my idea of a good time and the fact it was set in the ridiculous "hurr durr, modern warfare, let's kill Arabs" universe that is Generals pretty much sealed the deal for me. The biggest positive I saw about the game was that it was built on the Frostbite engine. What were your thoughts?

I don´t care. Best C&C games ever were Generals/Zero Hour and Tiberium Wars =)

No one cares about it. Personally, i'd rather have a HD version for the old C&C and Red Alert games ( from the original C&C to the Tiberian Sun and from the original RA to RA2 ). After the abomination that was C&C: Tiberium Twilight and the attempt to make f2p/p2w game, it might be better for the series to die.

Hurts terribly seeing what EA did to the series after they've got rid of Brett Sperry ( if you don't know who the guy is, use wiki ). But again, EA did what it does best: buy a studio without a clue about the internal culture of the studio, milk to death their IP's, if possible, get rid of the very people that were the foundation of the said studios ( Peter Molyneux - Bullfrog, Richard Garriot - Origin Systems, Will Wright - Maxis, Brett Sperry - Westwood, Ray Muzyka/Greg Zeschuk - Bioware ).

Command & Conquer Cancelled: Anyone Care - new installment ? Some time travel involved ('cancelled' part) ? If sth was cancelled in the past then no1 cares in the future. Sneaky clever. Would be awsome.

Well, there is a thread about it:
Generals 2 Cancelled

But it technically has the wrong name.

To be honest, I don't really have an opinion about it getting canceled. I loved Generals, but I personally am not that much interested in just the online part of an RTS.

Edit: Luller already mentioned the other thread I see. :)

A red alert 2 HD edition, it would be great.
