They had a pushcart with food, but you had to pay for it. Also, it was much, much better than any airplane. So much legroom, the lavatories were nice and large, had plenty of space to walk around and stretch, etc.

No, that's not true. It's still occasionally a little bumpy. But it's definitely a much smoother ride than any airplane or car.
