Been bothering me a long time, sometimes i can get past them on 1 browser, but sometimes i can't get past them on any browser and thus missing certain giveaway, saying this pc has generated too many queries or something, my pc was never hacked or anything, not using a VPN.
I do use adblockers but if i turn them off it doesn't fix it. Is there anything i can do about it?

As I understand it, the "Too many queries" line should only come about when Google (which processes and directs all Captcha requests) is getting too many calls from the same IP address within a short duration. The likely assumption is that you have spyware/adware running, though it's possible that an open/shared IP could trigger the flag as well, with enough active users on at once.

Well my niece, parents and me are in a Household with tablets, pc's etc but they dont visit sites alot.

It is very unlikely i have spyware running, i got kaspersky and malwarebytes running, and this pc is like 2 months old with a fresh install.

You seriously believe that?

Not necessarily true. This is the current situation after the investigation:

UPDATE: On Nov. 16, Kaspersky Lab released the complete report on its internal investigation. It adds more detail to the preliminary report, noting that the American computer in question used "an IP address that is supposedly assigned to a Verizon FiOS address pool for the Baltimore, MD" area โ€” in other words, near NSA headquarters.
The report also notes that the customer's computer was infected with at least 121 different strains of malware and adware, not counting the NSA malware also on the machine. The report theorizes that the machine was infected while the user disabled Kaspersky software so that he could install a "cracked" version of Microsoft office, and that such a vulnerable machine could easily have been compromised by nation-state attackers targeting a known NSA employee.
It further explains that the compressed archive containing NSA malware also included four documents "bearing classification markings", which implies that they contained language such as "TOP SECRET." The Kaspersky report says that the documents would have been uploaded to Kaspersky servers as part of routine malware collection not because they contained classification markings, but because they were part of an archive containing malware.

Now, this was an internal investigation, so keep that in mind, whoever's reading this. But also keep in mind that one, these claims, while strong, are most not backed in any credible way. Meaning there's no real proof and it's pretty much just heresay. Two, just because it's a government agency in question, doesn't mean that incompetence isn't there. It's actually rampant from what we've seen in the news and media. Third, Eugene Kaspersky himself has strong ties to the Russian government, but that's how it has always been in Russia. Bigger businessmen always have ties with the government. It's a country full of corruption and mutual backscratching and handwashing.

As far as I know, there hasn't been a third party, neutral investigation, though the company has promised that one would happen.

Is it anti-Russian propaganda? Not my place to say. I'm not here to make claims about a potentially worldwide conspiracy.

I just wanted to present facts to you, ZwyczajnyGracz, those that said it was anti-Russian propaganda and those that are just flat out interested in whether your antivirus is spyware or not.

Why is this person working for the NSA downloading freaking monkey porn loaded with spyware and malware?
Should NSA employees not be fairly damn computer savvy? That's embarrassing, I hope the employee was terminated.

Because they're not as smart as you might think. They use those same computers for their own entertainment, which means being on sites like Facebook and clicking on every link that aunt Ginny shares with you because it's about 10 ways to get yourself a smoking hot sexbuddy or something awful like that. It's pathetic to even think about, but I think most of the SG community is more techsavvy than the average NSA office rat.

Do you have any software running that might "skip" captcha's? like an automated downloader or something.

Well kids being kids you never know 100% what they bring in the house.
Noone using or used skip captcha's, i was that possible.

Bump for interest.
I can't get past most captcha's either. This is usually my experience with captcha's.
I've been using the audio version which used to be passable, but lately I've been getting 'Too many queries' too.

Yeah exactly when a picture is too grindy then it won't work and audio sometimes work, but not always.
I think on chrome it sometimes works while other browsers not, but yeah then sometimes chrome doesn't work either.
Glad to know it isn't just me then.

It's typically better to go for less than more on Captchas, I've found.
Though it's worth noting that issues related to Captchas popping up often, or taking excessive amounts of validation to process, are typically based in cookie-blocking, as Google uses cookies to establish and record typical user behaviors (which they then use to automatically confirm captcha checks, thus bypassing the "select images" section of a captcha entirely).

been having this exact same issue (ironically the worst was last night when contacting gog about how I couldnt get past the 30 or so captchas thrown my way when checking a gift code of mine).
for some reason ones asking for roads and cars keep deselecting the clicked panels.

If you're signed into a google account, sign out of it and then try the captchas.
I know it sounds silly, but it works.

Ah, sorry. I was struggling with it for a while, and that has fixed the problem entirely for me. X.X
Turns out if I was doing too many captchas in a day, Google was identifying my account as a bot.

Me too for the past month or so, I've taken to using another browser anytime I need to pass captchas. With sooo many sites using google's captchas for logins or key grabs or commenting, it's impossible not to have to do it quite a few times per day. I think google should raise the allowance, it's a good thing for them to have more people using their services right?

Great video. :D Sometimes I have to solve 30 street sign captchas. :/
Those google reCAPTCHAs are annoying as f*ck, I can confirm many of the remarks in this topic, and It's gotten worse the last couple of weeks.
I assume that google has to face an increasing number of automated queries by bots/scripts that leads to the annoyance.

Restarting the router(changing the IP address) has helped me.

Didn't work unless i didn't do it right (have a tp link router). i use dynamic ip, maybe static would better but with so many devices, might be a mess.

Comment has been collapsed.

It doesn't work if your external IP is static. It doesn't matter if your local network uses DHCP (dynamic IPs) or not, what matters is your external IP. To verify it check here before and after restarting your router. If you see the same IP then your external IP is static and restarting your router doesn't help with this problem.

But is there a solution that does work?

First of all you should confirm if you have a static external IP.

Permalink

It's the same.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That means you have a static external IP and other than waiting for the cooldown to pass there's little you can do. You should try finding out what triggers the cooldown and get rid of that to prevent future similar experiences.

Possible reasons include: using a VPN, using a proxy, having malicious browser plugins or userscripts, having adware/malware/rootkits installed on your computer(s) or simply badly designed software (for instance badly written data aggregation software). Another reason can also be too much instant traffic making you look like a bot (if multiple computers are using the same connection and accessing the same resource at the same time it might make you look like a bot since all the traffic originates from the same external static IP, regardless of how many devices are using it).

I sometimes used a vpn for certain giveaways, but not alot, i mean how often till it triggers it.
Could it also be they just block a whole range (and someone else abused things)?
My pc is clean and i don't use scripts beside egst, it's weird that for some sites/giveaways it still works occasionaly, but others just flat out refuse.

Like Sh4l1k4 posted below, maybe try asking isp for another ip.

Comment has been collapsed.

These things are based on network stats. Depending on how many queries are originating from the same IP this takes effect or not. Getting a new IP is only useful until the new IP gets flagged as well. Start by not using the VPN and disabling all userscripts and browser plugins and after the cooldown expires see if it helps pinpointing the culprit.

Edit: Also it's not just your PC that needs to be clean, all the devices using the same internet connection need to be clean. So the culprit might not be your PC but other device from the same network.

I think, then you will have to contact your ISP about this problem. They will issue a different IP.

ISP can't do much they will tell you to disconnect the modem for 24 - 48 hours then you should get a new IP.
Anyway i got a new one but still getting issues, but if you get a whole range that is found suspicious then it won't help much.

Did you try what @UltraMaster said?
And also see if you get the same problem with other devices connected to the same network.
And also see if it happens even when you use a different ISP with the same pc.

It's been weeks since i last used a vpn and there are no scripts interferring.

I don't know how long the cooldown is, or if there is a longer "ban", last week i couldn't access 1 site because of a captcha, i reset my router to factory setting, changed some settings, then somehow i could get past the captcha on that site.
Today a few days later i tried humblebundle as someone gifted me a humble monthly, and i can't logon no matter what browser (which in the past sometimes helped).
I also can't past the captcha on the other desktop that is in the household, as for other applicances haven't really checked (i don't use a smartphone nor my tablet).

Bring someone else's device who is not in your household and see whether the problem still exists.
If it still exists, try a different ISP. Else, there can be some malware running in all the PCs in your household.

I have been having issues with the image captchas as well. It started within 2 months ago. It seems like it is an issue from google's side, and that some filesharing websites have even switched back to using the old letter captchas.

I got issues with Indiegala and Alienware especially in that i can't even get games from their giveaways anymore
Some dutch lottery group i can login there to buy tickets, view them and it asks for a captcha, but now they have one contest you can win 5000 euro each day but i can't get past a captcha either.

I have the Issues when I enter Indiegala and Fanatical. I use Firefox, its the only browser I really use. What I do is constant refresh, if it does not work, clear Browser cache then refresh again. It do not always work but most of the time. I had spoken to Fanatical Support about the use of Captchas and they replied they are exploring other methods for identification. Cheers~

Bump, maybe someone still has an idea? Someone gifted me a humble monthly and i can't even access it because i can't passed the captcha, same as logging in to my itch.io client (why does a client even use that?).

ISP can't do much they will tell you to disconnect the modem for 24 - 48 hours then you should get a new IP.
Anyway i got a new one but still getting issues, but if you get a whole range that is found suspicious then it won't help much.
One day it works for otherwise blocked sites, and some days not, but even between websites that use captchas some will allways work, and others just don't.

That thing drives me insane, my theory is that the IP that you have right now was used in some captchas before it was assigned to you. In my case, my ISP has a very limited number of IPs and a lot of clients, so I suppose that releasing your IP and getting a new one may do the trick (or power cycling the router/modem).

I had something ending with 69 before now it's somehow 83.82.202.156 (i dunno if the numbers before that are the same range or not but i think so) i dunno what i did to change it, but still getting the captcha issues though.
I contacted my ISP and they told me to disconnect my modem for 24-48 (they couldn't exactly say how long) hours, and i would get alot of unhappy people for so long simply to just try a thing that might not even work (suppose i get another bad ip?), but as i said i somehow got another ip adress but dunno how i got that (i tried to fiddle around a bit in my router settings, i also tried to change the mac adress as you would get a new ip too, but if i select to use my pc adress it won't let me connect to the internet, the only way i get internet is to choose the factory mac adress).

[Edit] well seems i got an ip back ending at 69, i am guessing it's the 2 possible given ips for me in that disconnecting from the modem for 24 hours gives a new ip that might work.

the worst for me are uploaded.to and turbobit.net

My tips, but bare in mind I still spend way too long on these P's OSs.

Try the street sign - I try to be literal and avoid advertising signs, unless it has an arrow or something as a sign post. It always asks for a second attempt. Try doing it slowly if you can be bothered. It won't allow it first time usually. Try a second time. If on the third time it DOESN'T give you shop front or busses, press refresh ONCE.. maybe twice. I feel like it fails you on the first try to make you do more work. The second time you can easily screw up something small. Then it should give you the 'easier' bus or shop front. Be careful with the fading ones in case you pick a wrong one, because clicking refresh will take you back to street signs or cars usually.

Drives me absolutely insane wasting so much time.

Worst is with chrome, uploaded.to and/or jdownloader.. even logged in in both jdownloader and chrome with uploaded.to free account, doing the capture can repeat endlessly through jdownloader and in the browser show a red box around the recaptcha v2 box, after the green tick appears. I think it worked in Edge or IE (browsers without a bunch of security addons like my Chrome has) and they seemed to work better. But ads up the bum. Hate Google for making me do their work them. Do we really want AI cars that don't know what cars, cyclists, busses and street signs look like?? I love the 'roads' one.. I mean.. they can't tell what a road is even?! We're all going to die as pedestrians getting hit by AI cars.
