I wouldn't call being a bit upset about a missing thank you a stupid ritual. It's way more stupid to not appreciate a game you got for free in the smallest possible way by leaving at least a small thanks wich costs you not even a minute. Even if it's just about a small bundle game. The person who created it still spent some time to do something good to someone. I'd even call it pretty rude. Or maybe antisocial is the right word.
