How many giveaways do you enter?
My first win were developer giveaways, Guns of Icarus Online Beta and then the Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Beta I'm not completely sure of the dates but late September, early October 2012.
I was a leecher then, so my ration was 1:0, but after that I gave away the binding of Issac.

Entered December 18, won first game 7 Jan, took me until July to finally contribute to this community
Now that i look at it, I took 9 games away from this community without ever giving anything back...now i'm ashamed : /
Anyway, i consider myself lucky, i barely spend my points and still managed to win quite a collection of games

My first win was an X-Com spin-off game, and I had about a thousand entries at that point.
Can't complain: I only enter giveaways for games that I know I will play. Just look how much I've played the Jagged Alliance game I've won ;)

My first win was on my 3rd day here (368 entries), been winning about 2-3 times a week since then. But I've gotten more selective* about entering recently, so I'll probably win less often now...
I mainly joined to get rid of all those extra bundle keys I had amassed over the years, and now I buy more bundles than ever and even extra games to give away ... this site is evil >.<
*that doesn't mean I just entered random GAs, I just don't go through the whole GA list anymore to enter everything remotely interesting but instead search for stuff I already know about

I joined July 10th at 2:53am...
My first win was July 11th at 12:58pm ... Less than 36 hours later.
At that point, I'd given nothing away.
At that point I was nearly convinced though...
Then I won again on July 12th at 9:55am
And after 7 days, I had to report it as not received. I tried contacting them, etc. I was kinda bummed.
Even though that happened, I still made a giveaway shortly after that. And then they pretty much haven't stopped. If I don't have a GA running, I feel weird.
Regarding your poll question, I tend to enter anything that looks interesting to me. Because while I have the time to haunt the site now, later I won't... and I'll be able to work on the backlog that is building up. Real job coming up in another country hopefully by the end of the year
And though I haven't played everything I've won, I never enter things I would never play.

Thats exactly how I feel, I see no need to enter every GA I see. I'd rather someone won that was interested in the game so they can put in many hours into it that I wouldn't personally :D Plus, I have a pretty big backlog building up I joined pc gaming way to late(around 8 months ago

I tend to bounce between consoles and PC gaming for that reason. I wait about two years for the consoles to develop a game library, work out the bugs in the hardware, and drop the price. In the meantime, I play on PC. Its just the way I've done it for a very long time. A game doesn't have to be new to be new to me.
Of course, the fact that this last generation was so much longer than the previous ones has really left me with a sizable backlog on PC & consoles.

Man, I should take that logic and apply it to my life! I currently own an xbox one, yet I have barely played with the lack of games currently on it! PS4 seems to be the console to go with though! The Last Of Us is my favourite game(which is PS4 exclusive) and Until Dawn looks amazing! Plus it seems to be a better console with games, layout etc!
But yeah you much have a massive backlog with last generation! Good lucj with that xD

Some days, I just feel like giving up on it and finding some needy kid to take them off my hands. Plus, I already own a chunk of the games on PC. I'm really trying to just focus on the last few that I really want to play, but then I get bogged down on certain titles (I only play one game at a time).

ive been on SG for about half a year... first game ive won was dyad like a month after joining here.
i used to enter whatever game, but as i was rising in lvls ive become picky i guess... only entering wishlistgames.... which are still quite alot of games... not gonna lie ;)

Time of first win - 12th December 2014, Joined 8th November 2014. I entered 167 Giveaways at the time.
Wins - 3 (AR-K, Richard & Alice, Deadlight)
Won Richard & Alice on 10th January 2015. I entered 274 Giveaways at the time.
Won Deadlight on 22nd March 2015. I entered 900 Giveaways at the time.
During March and February I entered technically every giveaway that popped up, now im only doing games that I find interesting or that I really want, at the moment im looking for Rocket League, Fallout 4, GTAV and Call of Duty World at War or CoD 4.

You're only at 215 entries, which is pretty low for starting out. At least you're Level 2, which helps your chances more than most new users.
My first victory was Bastion, at 1136 entries. Most people seem to win their first public giveaway after about 1,000 attempts.

Yeah I tend to be very picky when entering GAs, I know what I want and most GAs are in my wishlist anyway! So I can keep track of them rather easily! I thought the level 2 would help a fair bit, although I do have games that seem to appear in the higher levels I need to make more GAs myself :)

A lot of public giveaways end up averaging 1K entires, so it makes sense that that's the point where people tend to see their first win. Entering Invite Only forum giveaways is a good way to go as well.

Finding a good group helps as well, as does getting on people's Whitelists (in a natural fashion, that is). Its just a matter of being a positive part of the community. And don't be surprised the first time you find yourself on a Blacklist. It happens to everyone.

I think I will look for a nice group that I can hopefully join! :D I have recently been added to a fair few whitelists which is awesome (of course, any other way seems pointless as they will add many people to it). Yeah I understand, sometimes you slip up, I wouldnt take it to heart :D

My first win was a giveaway for The Ship two years ago. I almost can't believe it's been that long. When I first started off, all of my wins were from contributor or private forum giveaways. Then I joined a lot of private giveaway groups, and almost all of my gifting and winning were from there. Then I left those groups when I went inactive, and now I mostly do giveaways for a group of friends or to public.

Yeah public GAs seem to be a lost cause for me! I've been entering a lot of whitelist, group and invite only GAs so that may increase my luck!

Public non contributor giveaways are always going to be rough, just because of the sheer amount of entries most of them get. You seem to be headed on the right track though, and it's nice that you're gifting before you've won. Also, you may want to enter this, this, this, and this. Who knows, maybe you'll get your first win yet :3

It's perhaps not as impressive as it first seems. I ran the math on calculating the odds of a single win over all those GAs based on the number of entrants in each. For those 178 GAs I entered, there was about a 1 in 4 chance I'd win one of them. It doesn't negate the individual odds of each GA, but winning that early isn't a massive amount of good luck either.

I was a bit curious so I looked it up and I'm really lucky. I did used to enter too many giveaways but I've since gotten more picky. :x But I did give away 8 games before I won!
It seems I won my first game (Titan Quest) 7 days after I joined and 240 total entries. I played Titan Quest for some hours but I realized it would be much better if I got the expansion/DLC first, and I actually just got the expansion a few days ago haha. So I'm planning to play it again soon. :)

Its much, much better with the expansion. You should also install the fan patch. It fixes a ton of issues that Iron Lore never had a chance to fix before they shut down.
Also, I highly suggest using TQVault. There are a ton of unique weapon and armor sets in the game, and the bank space is much too small to hold even a fraction of them. TQVault will let you stash them away for safe keeping.

I suggest looking into some of the mods for skins. They're solely cosmetic, but most of the default skins are pretty generic. It can really add a nice bit of detail to the characters (ivy wrapped around the limbs, all black/white/blue/whatever, tiger stripes, etc). I never bothered with any of the other mods, as the game already has plenty of content, but I know people put a lot of work into mini-expansions for TQ.

I won my first game 3 years ago, with 346 entries. The friend I was supposed to play it with (multiplayer) stopped playing pc as I won it, so I thought I should give it to someone who would actually enjoy it. So I regifted. I did not know it was not allowed. Oh well, that was 3 years ago, and I've given nic stuff since then :3
I mostly whitelist here, but occasionally I find some new interesting games to join.

I think it was quite a while later someone found out (system was not as effective 3 years ago). But I got like 2 weeks ban or something like that. But it's ok, I made a mistake so I'll do the time :D .. Still love this site and all of the generosity of people. Learned a lot about puzzles and decoding and stuff. I find that quite entertaining.

1 year after I registered, my first win was a developer ga too Legends of Aethereus and my ratio I think is not very bad, I won the most in public ga.
