It's probably a false positive with your anti-virus. I've had this happen with two games, one of which was Ys Chronicles. :\

Steam games should be all virus-free. I think maybe it is just a false positive. But since it's better to be safe than sorry, you should run a full scan using Malwarebytes. Personally, I use Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus and I've never had a problem with it, but a lot of people say Malwarebytes is better because it's not as outdated.

Valve doesn't check anything. Devs could be shitheads and include rootkits in their games.

Lmao the thought of that is both funny and scary.

It's not that far fetched. Some DRM solutions are very close to rootkits.

holy crap. I don't know if people were making mountains out of molehills, but one dude said he couldn't even open his web browser (chrome, i.e.) after installing that game O_o

I had McAfee Antivirus. It was a pain.
For McAfee every game on Steam is infected.
I switched to Kaspersky and didn´t have any false-positive anymore.

Scan the supposedly infected file at Virustotal to be sure it's a false positive.

Avast is more PIA. It deleted Soul Axiom's exe without a warning. I checked the integrity five tmes, before I sorted out the problem. I wouldn'T think that it's infected, I mean there would be threads about it, if every antivirus would spot it, so I guess we are safe to assume, that it was just a false alarm.
