I just read this. It says "from the 23rd April 2015 onwards, Virtua Tennis 4 will be unavailable to purchase digitally". The game is currently on sale with a -80% discount.

Fuck! I will wait for VT5 then, thanks for the reply.

There has been no announcement of VT5 even being considered to start development yet. As Sega has announced they will no longer develop games for consoles, and only mobile, it's possible there won't be another one. The latest entry in the series is Virtua Tennis Challenge for mobile released in 2012. If there is a new VT game, it will likely be a sequel, VT Challenge 2.

Hot Tip: Buy 10's of copies for reselling.

It only works when they DON'T announce it publicly. If everyone has an extra 10 copies of a game no one wants, the unavailability won't matter for at least a few years.

Yeah, i was ready to buy 3 copies but i saw in for sale on all gamestores lol, so maybe in 5 years will get some value but not worth the time. Bought only one for my account.

I was going to buy a couple, not 10's but then saw that £1 = €1 = $1. Americans and Europeans going to be able to undercut me.

No worries, after the 23th you can set your own rules, exept if sega lying to as, but i believe is true cause the GFWL DRM.

I wonder since this was announced beforehand, will this ever actually be worth something? lol

I imagine collector's are buying it now, and trader's are probably buying dozens of copies.

I'm a trader but I only bought one extra copy for my inventory purpose.

In the long term, it will increase, but eh... how long will it take? Not worth waiting for me.

I plan to do the same most likely.

Just let it slowly collect value even though it won't go very high. lol

I'll buy what cards allow me, and maybe keep them for giveaways. They won't go high, but some people will still like to enter for a removed game. :D

Supply is limited and it will dwindle eventually. It will be worth a pretty penny in a couple of years. As new people join steam also will new collectors which weren't on Steam on the timeframe the game was available.

This game has GFWL! so think before buying it..personally i was a click away from buying it till i saw that it has GFWL and multiplayer functionality is gonna get shutdown

Its getting removed from the store, GfWL is still going to be around to host online. Unless there is more news that points to the multiplayer servers for the game getting shutdown, don't claim it is.

Lol you don't know? GFWL is shutting down this summer, MS put up a notice some months ago before taking it down..THAT is why you see major publishers who had previously GFWL in their games, converting to STEAM..

NO

No, no, no, no, no, NO.

Age of Empires Online was being shutdown. The news was only for that, which is the reason the post about it was removed, and the date mentioned has already passed anyway. Games for Windows Live is only discontinued in that new PC games won't use it. The online system is also used for the XBox systems. So unless they plan to remove online from their consoles, that isn't happening.

Sure, some games removed it. They were also going on faulty information. Microsoft didn't clear anything up, but hey, didn't take much to figure out that couldn't be right.

Virtua tennis is an arcadish tennis game. Personally i liked it quite a lot.
It has local co-op/multiplayer, has several levels of difficulty (the hardest one is an insane challenge IMO).
The main singleplayer mode is sort of career. you create a player and play the game mode for an in game year. you level up and play tennis tournaments , the better you perform the higher the chance you will be invited for grand slams, you can even get seeded. After a year you can play again as the same player (with all stats you gained).
Personally i enjoyed that game mode a lot and the local multiplayer. It's pretty cool to play doubles and singles with friends.
As for GFWL, in this game i never had a problem but i'm not an online person. I had problems with GFWL in iron brigade and ace combat.
I recomend the game if you like tennis and want to play around a bit with the sport.

You may be able to get it at a decent price in trading. With the warning we had, quite a few people would have stocked up.

not the best tennis game but it's fun -for a while at least- and considering there are not many tennis games on steam, i could only find one more game, it's really sad. maybe i should save some money for a console.

Even though I won't buy this game, I wish they did something like this for other games that got removed, such as Deadpool.
