Saying Thank you

Hi all, I just won for the first time. I want to say thank you to the user who sent me the gift - how do I do that? I left a comment on the giveaway thread but I don't know if they will receive that.

Please don't do that. While I'm sure that different users have different feelings about this, I don't really appreciate it when people add me on steam, unless it's someone I know from the forums, or there is a particularly good reason for it. Writing a thank you in the GA will still give the person giving the game that message.

I'd been adding people to thank them for some time, but now I've switched to thanks on giveaway page. Although, if I get a gift (or when they give me link personally via chat), I always thank them via steam chat.

Their message icon wil turn green untill they mark it as recieved.

Adding them may be unwanted. If he/she wanted that she would add you and give you game personally.

comment in the GA is fine. i do that.
and the system makes sure that he gets it. if he doesn't read it, you can't make anyone read it

another option is to leave a comment on his Steam page

They do try to keep forums clean, so closing thread that has no further use gives them less threads to go through.

there are..99 threads on one page.. 143 pages have open threads. so there are 14157 threads OPEN at the moment. so.. yeah.
mods only take look at top 5-6 threads . and if some shitpost/witchhunt/ BL worthy thread is there, they close it. other than that it's merry hell.

sigh I'm saying it IS messy & it WILL stay messy.
even CG tried to appeal us to categorize threads. everybody forgot abt it after a week.

Think you're using some addon, my browser doesnt find any word "statistics" either here or on main page.

But i stand by my opinion, that its better to do it even if little by little. Not doing nothing is just adding to the mess.

So according to Schrodinger, in the time between receiving the gift and deciding whether or not to thank him, you are both blacklisted and not blacklisted.

If there is a description in that GA - read it first, maybe creator ask you for some cute cat gif in addition to "Thank you".)

If you leave a message on the giveaway, they will receive it. Or if comments are enabled on their profile, post it there. If the code came via email, reply to that. Please don't add them to say thanks. Most people don't add others randomly.

I never thank someone when I win unless they add me. They know I appreciate it.. and I dont want people adding me just to say thanks, I know you are thankful.. no biggy
