old library system was uncluttered, peaceful even. this one they keep filling with more shit and you can only turn off like 20% of it

You can close it with the X (per each game) and it won't come back unless they release a new DLC.

Thank you!
Didn't know it wouldn't come back if you pressed X, expected it to come back next time you open Steam so good news indeed!
(wish Steam would make such stuff as optional in the settings instead of just adding it!)

Depending on the feedback they might make it optional in the future. Personally I like it, cause it only shows (new) DLC I don't already own.

To be fair, the DLC part I don't mind THAT much since sometimes you don't realize a game you enjoy has a DLC, even more if you can just close it when not interested in that game.
I do mind the other clutter way more, like achievements of friends, news, etc. I rather it only showed my achievements and maybe my cards but nothing else since it fills the page with way to much stuff I never look at anyway.
Can understand others liking it so that's why making it optional is the best way, same as how you can disable Community Content.

This may not be the fix you want, but ever since the big UI redesign, I've used it in small mode. The only negatives for me are minor: any time you uninstall something, it auto-switches to large mode and you have to switch back. Same for managing downloads.

To switch to this style, View->Small Mode.

Oh I remember I always used Small Mode with the old library, good times!
I think I stopped doing that because it kept going back to normal mode on its own until I gave up XD

I have a category called "to delete" and when I finish a game, I move it there, then bulk delete so I don't have to see large mode too frequently :-D

Yeah, and some times it doesn't make sense. Take this example with CS:GO, advertising me Operation Riptide. For some reason, Valve made it a DLC, but they still sell it after the operation finished earlier this year, and it's still being advertised to me despite owning the operation and having it maxed out and owned since September 22th 2021.

Most games just show the soundtracks and artbook stuffs. Wish I can only disable these...

YES! Wish you could choose what kind of DLCs at least since I could care less about soundtracks and artbooks and such, only DLC I would care for are DLCs that add stuff to the game itself.
Steam needs way more settings for that kind of stuff.

Yeah when I first saw this I immediately thought "thanks, I didn't have enough crap to dismiss already". They sure have a lot of time to add features nobody asked for but when people ask for quality of life tweaks suddenly they're too overworked to do it.

I like how it looks aesthetically but I had the same thoughts as you. There should be an option to disable this completely and I'll bet dlc sales will increase after this.
