The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY crashing on startup. Help?

Hi! I have recently purchased Morrowind during the sale, and it worked the first time. However, now, I just get a "Morrowind has encountered a problem and needs to close" error. I have tried fullscreen and windowed modes(with different resolutions each time), I have tried verifying integrity of game cache, I have tried disabling Tribunal/Bloodmoon content and I have tried redownloading the game. I have NOT installed any mods. System specs: MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3,Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 @ 2.20GHz, 2.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 332MHz (5-5-5-15),Intel Corporation D945GCPE (LGA 775),Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family, 488GB Seagate ST500DM002-1BD142 (SATA).
