First of all I know this was entirely my fault.

What am I supposed to do now? I sent the code to the wrong email, it had one extra character, tried to create this email but Microsoft retired the @live.com domain

What should I do now? I created a support ticket asking the same question, will I get banned? Do I have to buy the game on steam to avoid it or are there any other options?

Comment on the GA and ask the person to contact HB support for you, they can retrieve it.

By the way is there a way to contact the gift sender on Steam Gifts? I tried adding him on steam but he has not accepted it yet I'm afraid he might not accept at all since so many bots send out fake invitations nowdays I hope he looks at my profile sees its not fake and accepts me :(

Nope, there's no other way. Just comment on the GA and he will see it and respond sooner or later. It's likely he will accept as he recognizes your username.
All you gotta do now is wait.

Don't you have to type your email in twice? You mistyped it wrong twice the exact same way?

I'am usually write email once and use copypast for second string, so it not so hard for make mistake.

I had typed it wrong previously without really knowing, auto complete poped up then you know the rest

The typo was hard to indentify because it was one extra _ (underslash) the only reason I know is because I knew for sure humble bundle always sends out its email successfully to me
I had been wondering for days why I wasnt getting any replies when I tried to use my email to register for games etc

Contact Humble support, they should be able to help you out if you can prove it's a legitimate mistake; they're usually pretty helpful.

I'd warn the support about this, just to make things easier to the gifter, since if you mark as received without activating it, you could get a suspension in a week. But cant even leave the gifter with a "not sent" gift mark :/ Ask the gifter to write to HB support. You should sort things out

alright man, I updated my ticket!
I also sent HB a ticket in hopes they see it was an honest mystake (both emails are almost identical) and re-send it to the right email even though I did not buy the bundle myself thus I did not have all the information they requested :(
