The times when one has the exact right reply.
Edit: Very nice giveaway! I have the game on my backlog, really looking forward to playing it some day.

Ohh well I hope you have a high chance of winning, if you do its a really fun game! Definitely should give it a go :D

I mean I already have the game in my Steam library (so I'm not entering), but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet :)
Just wanted to say thanks for a great giveaway, and witty comments.
The only badum-tish moment I've managed to pull off lately was in a discussion (in English, my third language, I should add) about bad things that could happen at a fun fair, when I said: -"Well, that doesn't sound neither fun nor fair". Badum-tish! (Ok, that was a really bad one)

Ohhhh! Well redeem the game already and play it! You crazy :O
Thats no problem, I'm happy to give to the community. I've met some amazing and generous people. I just want to make people happy. Well I like to bring personality to GAs ;D
That was bad, get out. Leave. opens door ;D

I liked it, it's an awesome reboot for the saga. The only thing that kind of bothered me was the difficulty of the puzzles... too easy. The "hard" parts of the game are some combats but I think that's not the spirit of the saga.
Comment has been collapsed.
I enjoyed it, I agree the puzzles were very easy which was disappointing. I hope they up the difficultly in the new one. The combat was fun, but I agree, they need to focus on puzzles :/
Comment has been collapsed.
Right, I mean, I miss the old puzzles that involved the whole "stage" not just a room or a cave. I too hope they will raise the bar in the upcoming game. Nice GA by the way, it will sure make someone really happy :3

I didn't play much of the older TRs, but the ones I did made me fall in love with game puzzles! I'm praying they do, it will increase the difficulty and say true to the older games! :D Aww thank you, I hope it does. Nothing makes me happier when someone gets a game they really want :3

Exactly, plus with the hunter ability it was just noob proof xD

I've played through the game twice, it was very good! I don't really understand why so many people disliked it... I'm guessing it was people who expected a game similar to the previous games in the franchise (which it's not).
It's always the same thing with sequels and whatnot. A good example of that is BioShock Infinite. A very good game, but despised by many due to being "not as good" as Bioshock 1 or 2. In my opinion, every games should be played without expectations built from past experience with the franchise.
Games change, sometimes for the best and sometimes for the worse, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they are bad.
Just imagine how boring gaming would become if sequels would be almost exactly similar to the previous games? Isn't that the reason we dislike CoD so much?

Sorry about the long post. I'm done now. :P

Yeah I think because people are so committed to the older games that they might be disappointed in this one. I can see why thats the case, but as a new game its great and I loved playing it
I honestly think if you are going to play a new game in a series that good, you should always go into it almost like its a standalone game. Putting expectations on it means you may ruin a truly amazing game!
Very true, I love when devs try new things, its all about experimenting. Sometimes its bad and sometimes it could be the best thing ever and make the game 10x better/
Thats cool, I liked hearing your input and I fully agree :D

Exactly!
It's like for Just Cause 3. Just Cause 2 was (and probably still is) my favorite game ever. With the incoming release of Just Cause 3, I am extremely eager to play it and see if it's as good as I expect - and accidentally, my expectations are EXTREMELY high.
If the game turns out to be too "different" or simply doesn't feel like the Just Cause I know and love, I might be very disappointed in the game. However, it's not like I'm going to drop the game and say, "it isn't like Just Cause 2, so it sucks". I'll enjoy the game for what it is, a nice action game slightly similar to Just Cause 2.
But I'm pretty positive that Just Cause 3 will satisfy my expectations. Heck, it's Avalanche Studios we're talking about... one of my favorite, coolest developers ever. They won't screw up... they CAN'T screw up. They even plan on fully supporting modding. (Hell yeah! Game developers, take note - this is how you dev.)

Ideally you should judge every game on its own merit, but it's quite hard to do, in particular when one of your favourite games of all time comes into the picture (I had a hard time not feeling disappointed by Bioshock, as I absolutely love System Shock 2, and it was said to be a spiritual successor to it)
Comment has been collapsed.
Another gamer made the mistake of judging a game by its "prequel". :(
You should really give Just Cause 2 a try. It's fun just for freely roaming the large island. I particularly enjoy the complete freedom of air/water/land. Just flying a small plane around the island is an unforgettable experience.
Don't play it for the story, though... it barely has any.
You'll either love the game, or hate it - it really depends on the kin of game you can enjoy. ^^

+1
I played it twice. Once on PC and then later again when it was free on the Xbox 360. Highly enjoyable and a good reboot of the franchise. Ok, maybe they took too much Tomb out of Tomb Raider (she even says she hates tombs in the game :D) but it's on a solid footing now and they can always add more of these elements in the later games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep, I expect Rise of The Tomb Raider to be pretty good. It looks like they went through Tomb Raider 2013, removed the bad, and added more good. It's really hard to say, though. In my opinion, it should be pretty good, perhaps even better than Tomb Raider 2013.

For what it's worth, I disliked (not hated, just disliked) the reboot of TR for exactly the same reason I dislike CoD games. ;þ Dislikeception!
Also, the point about sequels subverting the expectations from a franchise kind of subverts the idea of sequels in general. What is the non-PR reason for calling the game Tomb Raider in this case? Shouldn't those who came to play this game with certain expectations based on its name feel somewhat, I don't know, manipulated?
Comment has been collapsed.
But isn't the Tomb Raider reboot completely different from the original games? Especially Lara's character, but also the gameplay.
Comment has been collapsed.
My point exactly. ;) I mean, it's a reboot, sure, a reimagined version of the original, er, concept or idea. So just like in the case of a sequel (as opposed to, say, a remake), it would make sense that the player would expect to see and experience something different.
At the same time, however, it's still called Tomb Raider. So it would also make sense that the player should expect to see and experience at least something similar to the original idea or concept.
So, in the end, to see that the reboot is completely different from the original games feels like, well, false advertising. It drives in old-school fans by pulling on their nostalgia strings, raking in additional £££, and then betrays the same people by not pulling on those strings in the game itself.
And if the message is that we shouldn't be assuming anything at all - or maybe that we shouldn't be assuming anything about the game based on the title alone - or that we shouldn't expect sequels to aim for any kind of consistency - then maybe publishers should be doing a better job at conveying how their new game differs from the rest of the series, and what exactly still makes it part of the series. This would cut down on betrayed expectations significantly.
To be clear, I've got no nostalgia towards TR games at all. I've barely ever played the original ones, and I'd only finished Anniversary (loved it) and Legend (meh) before I played the reboot. But I can kind of empathise with those who foolishly assumed that the 2013 game would be about raiding tombs or something. ;þ

Oh, okay. Well, my point about CoD was that every game they have been released recently are known to be the exact same thing over and over again - of course, I haven't played the games myself, so I'm just quoting from the majority of people who played them. :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Suuuure, everyone says that. ;þ
I hear ya, and the sameyness is doubly resentful for multiplayer games, as every new release just needlessly fragments the player base (ahem - FIFA games - ahem). It's still a double-edged sword, however. If they release another CoD with the same weapons and everything, and just change the maps - they'll be shouted down for selling a damned map pack as a new game. Rightfully so. If they change just enough weapons and game modes, and maybe add some new toys to spice up the gameplay a little - it will be an okay new CoD game. Add a stellar single-player campaign and some cool new mechanics to the multiplayer mode - and you'll get a good new CoD game. Put a railgun and health packs and Quad Damage into a new CoD game - and you'll get the same thing as with the TR reboot.

Yeah I played about half an hour of it and just gave up. After seeing The Last Of Us multiplayer I sort of judge all that from it :3

I never got the chance to fully complete an original, but I still appreciate the older games! I will also be getting it along with the other games I want on PC. I hope there are no spoilers since I will have to wait for a sale I'm too poor for £50 games xD

Aww I'm sorry to hear that! Maybe a game was bundled ;___;

Well I appreciate the thank you, witty comments are always just a bonus! You're had plenty before xD
I will continue to raid the comments until a tomb appears! I may have to shotgun the entry though :D

That reminds me..have you used

Good place to check for bundle left overs but the real treasure can be had in the happy hour bundles form indiegala as people will buy them and sell you the bundle for the happy hour price, without needing to buy the bundle yourself and you get it for happy hour price.
It can be useful for making cheaper GA in case you feel like giving but do not have a lot coin...they also have a section where people sell bundle left overs so might be able to snag a game from a bundle you want to give away for split cost
Anyhow i know it is a bit off topic i just see you love giving and like most do not have gold coins to swim in like some duck i will not mention...so i thought this might help you out in giving

Thank you very much! I'll definitely check that out when I get some sort of income coming in :D
