I just called them. They need more pictures to investigate.

Personal information? Seriously, what private information a fake moder can ask? What did you eat for your breakfast? I would understand if a scammer pretended to be a winner... but why a moder? What's the point in this?

I'm guessing a lot of people don't know how much power mods have and think they are basically gods?

So is that Nigerian prince needing my Steam account to transfer his million dollar fortune still legit?

I'm new here. How would I be able to tell that this post is from a moderator? ;) I don't know names of people, and there's nothing on the forum post or SG profile page to say that you're a mod.
(In fact, the only way that I know you probably are, stopping this from being an entirely genuine question, is that a) this thread hasn't been removed yet, and b) you wrote the formatting help sticky in this forum. But I'd love there to be some sort of indication of such in the profile, because it's quite relevant to this, I think.)

Hello community,
It's been brought to our attention that users have been changing their Steam avatar and name to those of the mods and/or admin of SteamGifts. I would like take this time to remind everyone that moderators will not ask you for personal information.
If someone claiming to be a moderator from SteamGifts contacts you, please first check to see if they have a history of changing their name. This can be done on their Steam community profile by clicking the down arrow next to their username. This is also helpful if a winner of your giveaway attempts to contact you.
If you suspect someone is not who they say, please forward any helpful information in an email to inbox@steamgifts.com or contact a moderator.
Thank you and have a great weekend.
-Regards
