I was actually hoping for a very narrow victory for the neo-nazi. That way, like in the US with Trump, the French people would realize how stupid it is to vote for such a person after seeing the stupid shit she tries to pull, and the far right would be unelectable for a while afterwards. And as a bonus, Melenchon would probably win the next election.
As it is now, you get a few more years of meek, centrist, largely ineffectual governance, which will greatly strengthen Le Pen's position. I expect her to get elected next time, and with far more seats in government than she could have gotten this time, increasing the damage she'll cause.

Honestly even though I have no sympathy for Le Pen this is still pretty bad. It was already the same thing in 2002, "vote for this guy because the alternative is the crazy nationalist", with the media designing him more or less as the "official" candidate, making the whole point of an election pretty moot when there's only one candidate. And to think people abroad think we saved democracy by doing this kind of crap :/

Le Pen should have pushed more on dismantling Euro than on immigration/terrorism stuff. First you need to remove the instrument that Troika has to keep you by the balls, then you can start taking your own decisions about immigration, jobs, taxes...

As a russian I felt more like for Le Pen coz it seemed to me she would really throw all garbage islamic potentional terrorist scum out of France.

To be honest, I'd have been really sad if the first french female president had been Marine Le Pen.
Maybe she'd have thrown away potential terrorists but she would also have had throwed away a lot of innocent people who just wanted to live in peace here in France.
I don't think throwing people away is a solution against terrorism. A better way of doing it is to educate people about extremism and respect for other beliefs (that goes for muslims and christians alike, and all the other disrespectful religious people out there).

While I can't say that I'm overjoyed by Macron, but compared to Le Pen? Yeah, I'm glad that she did not win. Had I've been in France I would have voted for Macron just to make sure that Le Pen would not get into office, even if Macron is not really a choice I can "get behind". But better a choice I can't "get behind" than one that seems outright terrible.
