Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Question

Those that know me know that I love Sonic. That is why I always want to play his games. However, with Sonic the Hedgehog 4, making it that it is in episodes makes it that it is only partial games. Additionally, from what I hear, they will not make what should be the rest of the game, kind of like what Valve with the Half-Life 2 episodes. What I like to know is that are these episodes still a good experience, or are they not that worth it?

I've only played episode 2, but I'd say it's just as good of an experience (and just as long) as Sonic and Knuckles.

I dunno, I installed it and fired it up and it said it requires Java and I don't want that garbage on my computer.

I've done Episode 1, seemed that it might as well be considered a full game for the series, though not a great game. Even wrote a review

I can't run Episode 1 but I can run Episode 2 and it's just average, way inferior to the good old Sonic games.
