So I cant even tell other people about the group on steam for giveaways on a giveaway site because i am driving traffic to third party sites?

As far as I understand above rule:
You tell people about your group.
But if you promote a group recruitment thread -like this one- with a giveaway that is not on Steamgifts and not in a group thread, but on a 3rd party site, you are breaking the rules.
If any staff or forum regular reads this, feel free to correct me.

So you are basically trying to work around the shitty gleam giveaways restriction by making people join your group and spam them there instead .... interesting idea .

I didn't understand you to be honest. I give away games on the steam group and link giveaways which are not on this site for other people benefit. Not having any rep here was a disadvantage it seems.

Not to put too fine a point on things, but Steamgifts is a giveaway site.
It rarely looks good to the people here when you make your giveaway elsewhere (rather than here).
IMHO you'd have a lot better luck with your group recruitment if you made the giveaways on this site, as group giveaways.

You can make public giveaways here with a link to your group (advertising it) and a link to a nicer group giveaway (SG has the option to make group-only giveaways). Users will join your group then to get access to the nicer group-only giveaway. It's completely within the rules, and you'll end up with a lot more members for your group. :)
