My spooky season train has arrived in station and it has 13 cars (of course):

Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York
The Walking Dead
Those Who Remain
FOREWARNED
Dreams in the Witch House
Terror At Oakheart
BrokenLore: LOW
Tormented Souls
In Sound Mind
Viviette
Amnesia: The Bunker
Little Nightmares (not available in Venezuela - sorry!)
Choo-Choo Charles

Here’s your ticket:

307593339
671891510
307346609
822203057
399163840

As for uppercase/lowercase distinction: 553803700 is an “i” and 553051237 is an “E”. Easy peasy.

Oh dear, all those numbers look wrong somehow! I’m sure you’ll figure out how to fix them, before the ticket inspector reaches you. But why is he carrying a bloodied axe? with a tentacle?? and those compound eyes!!

You had zero chance from the start to avoid the search!

Aaaahhhahhhh!!!!

All aboard!

Good luck!

Solution: prefix each of the 5 numbers with the digit 0 and you get ISBN-10 codes of books whose titles include a single letter or number. If the title starts with that single letter then it's in lowercase, otherwise it's uppercase. String those letters and numbers together to get the giveaway code in the regular giveaway URL template.

Examples:
0553803700 corresponds to the book I, Robot by Isaac Asimov, so it stands for an "i"
0553051237 corresponds to Murder in E Minor, so it stands for an "E"

The only tool needed for solving this should've been a search engine, but my original wording left no clue as to what was wrong with the codes. Thanks WaxWorm for the heads up, and sorry for the extra work I caused you 😓.

Cheers.

having trouble with the case-sensitivity, been brute-forcing every combination to no avail, could I possibly get a hint? thank you

Comment has been collapsed.

May I suggest you first try to figure out the letters and then their case?
And I'm pretty sure there's no brute-forcing it.
Google is the only tool you need. Once you know what to search for, that is...

I have all the letters i'm just not sure what case i'm supposed to put them in, even after looking at the examples. Maybe I have them in the wrong order? I don't know what I'm doing wrong

No need to reorder. Think what letters (in English) are usually uppercase, and do the opposite... Hope this makes sense to you.

I've tried every possible combination of the letters I have so maybe I'm using the wrong letters... I don't think I am though which is why I'm very confused

as for the letters I'm using, here's some numbers that are associated with them
2010, 1995, 2006, 1954, 2015... am I using the correct ones?

You seem to be there alright. Only thing I can think of is that maybe you missed the last slash on the URL? it's a common problem - you need to go to https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/XXXXX/

no I always remember the last slash... I honestly don't know at this point...

There is a logic to the case. Look at the two examples again.

The problem is i've tried every possible combination of case using the letters I have. Either I'm using the wrong letters (I'm using the letters that are isolated like in the examples), or I have them in the wrong order (i'm using them in top to bottom order), or there is some third step I'm missing.

Sounds more like you made a mistake when trying all of them. It's probably easier to now figure out the logic behind the case and try the correct combination instead of trying all of them again. ^^

Ok... so I don't know why this was happening but for some reason every time i entered the url in Brave, every letter would change to uppercase when I pressed enter. It changed to uppercase for a split second before redirecting to the homepage so it was hard to notice, but eventually I did. So it turns out I was doing everything right but Brave was messing it up, so I was able to get it to work in Firefox... yeesh...
Thank you so much WaxWorm and ZungBang for being patient with me for this issue that was beyond your control and sorry for leading you through this long comment chain. Such a stupid browser issue that caused me to get lost like this. 🙃

Yeah, that is something most browsers based on Chromium tend to do. They auto-correct the case in URLs to the first version you entered and tried to open. When doing URL puzzles, always keep that in mind and doublecheck. When in doubt, clear the latest URL history or use a private window. Or a different browser like you did . ^^

You're actually supposed to add a missing digit, not to chop anything off...

Solved, not a big fan of horror games, so won't be entering much, but it was an interesting challenge anyway! One part of it seemed pretty arbitrary though, and I'm still not sure how was I supposed to arrive at that (I essentially got it through blind luck)

Yeah, the missing digit. It's intentional, but too obscure. Yet, you've zeroed in on it, so there.

I feel like finding the missing digit is the easy part. No idea how to get letters/characters from that though. None of the full numbers, including the two examples, seem to refer to anything they usually refer to. Not with Google nor with databases dedicated to these numbers. Unless I'm missing a hint what else to do with the numbers, I feel like this might be the arbitrary part.

Not sure what "usually refers to" refers too 😀
I just tried a search via Duck Duck Go on a Tor browser that happened to establish a circuit via Germany, and it seems to fetch the correct results even when restricting to results in Germany. Maybe change where you add the missing digit? there are two possible positions after all...

Comment has been collapsed.

Now you're confusing me even more. You are clearly hinting at what kind of numbers these are. These kinds of numbers usually refer to a thing and there is a defined process how to get the missing digit and where its position is. If that is not the intended way of getting the missing digit and its position, then I agree with THAT being the arbitrary part.

Edit: got it now, let's continue this in the giveaway.
