For those wondering how I know, if you go to the Steam web activation, you can either inspect element or (what I do) press f12. Once you enter the game key, go to the Network tab then the ajaxkey popup. Once you click that, you can click the package id, click the dropdown, and see the game name.

Thanks. I mostly use it to figure out what game I was supposed to get if it's a duplicate key. Steam never tells you that. Also, sometimes products you already own don't display the name so I use it then too.

Another tip for a key that you already had, but you don't know what it is.
You must activate it through the Steam Client (not web), this will show you that you already have it and will recommend installing it in case it isn't.
