Well, we all know that Steam support is not the best customer service around, right? The thing is, I activated a game by accident in my brother's account and wanted to transfer the game to my account. It's a game I bought, nothing to do with Steamgifts. Yeah, I know it's not as easy as that, but I've searched through the internet and found many forums where people claim that their games were transfered under very special circumstances like not having played any single minute the game with the wrong account and proving with screen captures and such that you actually bought the game yourself. So, I wanted to try!

Ok, that was like a little introduction just to let you know what happened, but the real question is... what can I do when Steam support is not helping at all? I mean, it looks like I've been talking to the worst employee ever or something. She said "no", just like that, and after showing her lots of cases with forum links about people whose games have been transfered, lots of screenshots proving the mistake I've made and everything (in a really big message that she didn't seem to read) she just said "no" again". I really feel like I was talking to a computer or something.

Anyway, question is... Can I speak to anyone else? Would it work if I try to submit a new ticket in a different language? Just in case you didn't notice english is not my mother tongue (I think it is pretty obvious) and I was thinking about changing the language and send a new support ticket in english. Would that work? I know I'll probably receive the same answer but... at least I have to try! And I'd love to hear a "sorry, we can do that, we did it some time ago but now we cannot transfer a game just like that" instead of the "NO" that hurt my heart so much *sad violins.

PS: Don't laugh so hard at my english, please.

You can try to email Gaben, he's been known to respond every once in a while.

The odds are like winning a public no-level 4 week Fallout 4 GA on SG though.

Nah, I mean you will defeat ridiculous odds and see a mail notification from Gabe Newell, open it excitedly and...

"No".

Worth it! I'll give it a try, thanks. If I receive an answer HL3 would be confirmed once and for all.

No, can't. They won't transfer your license. It's permanently tied.

just accept your loss and move on.

I may do it, at least once. Do you think it would help if I try to write it in a different language?

Thanks for the advice :)

or sit on the ticket for months like I did, when they finally responded after 4 months, not only did they barely and vaguely answer my question, they answered a completely unrelated question that I didn't ask... Valve must have an open gas pipe somewhere in their building

I wrote them two huge messages and received like a pair of sentences instead. Twice. No mention to any of my questions there. Talking about vague... xD

Maybe refund the game from your brother's account and then buy it again as a gift after it's been refunded.

Can't refund gifts or other store keys AFAIK.

Except in special cases like Arkham.

I think you can refund Steam gifts, you just need the recipient to tick a case acknowledging their agreement.

I think you're right about other store key, but a redeemed Steam gift can still be refunded, as explained here:

I can't ask for a refund since it was not a gift, it was a steam key from GMG!

Of course I've already contact GMG and said that there is nothing they could do, and tell me to contact steam support on that matter.

Anyway, when I said that there are people that got their games transfered to another account I was talking all the time about steam keys and not gifts, which of course could be asked for refund.

Thanks for the help though, at least you guys are listening to what I say, which is much more thatn what steam support did!

You're shit out of luck, there.

Steam will not in any circumstance refund or transfer keys not purchased through their client.
(Not sure about the circumstances you describe, but that detail is actually in the official Steam FAQs, and has come up on these forums before.)

GMG will under no circumstances assist in keys not redeemed to your own account, as they insist that you have 'no right' to activate keys not to your own account, and will not assist with any order if any of the keys were activated by someone else.
[And any request to deactivate or transfer keys will automatically be assumed to be for such circumstances.]

GMG ALSO won't provide any refunds or replacements if the key was purchased 7 or more days ago, even if it no longer works.

Both things to keep in mind when using GMG.

I know it is in the FAQs, but the circumstances I've described are kind of special. If you search through internet you can find some of those cases where actually keys were transfered to another account. Those circumstances are as described before, not having played the game and showing evidence that it was a mistake (this was probably require a lot of verification from both accounts so they can assure everything is ok). I even found someone with the exact problem than me! He activated a game in his brother's account, just like me, and his game (it was Portal 2 I think) was moved to his account and deleted from his brother's. Of course, it's not about games purchased in the steam store, since that would be as easy as asking for a refund. It's about steamkeys and not gifts (as far as I know it is not possible to buy a game via Steam key in the Steam store, right?). What's more, check a couple of comments below what Rachelsfg told us. He bought a bundle key and he get his game transfered to another account. Not exactly the same situation, but it serves as proof.

And yes, I knew GMG couldn't do anything about it, but Steam seems like can. It's kind of a matter of luck, but can...

Definitely no harm in trying!
I'd only heard of attempts that'd failed, up till now, but, do me a favor, and if you do get it sorted, let me know here and I'll update my considerations on the matter :D

Be nice having something positive about Steam Support come up now and then :X

You could try to request refund, although the money would be refunded to your brother's account, from there however you could buy the game as a gift and send it to your own account and activate it there. Just an idea.

It's always better when you submit a ticket in english. Even when you do that, there's no guarantee that they will actually support you. I had a game transferred to another account once. I had already bought the game last year and bought a bundle with the same game this year. I wrongfully activated the key on my own account. But instead of telling me I already had the game, Steam accepted my key and activated it anyway. So I created a support ticket and sent screenshots showing that I purchased the game last year and that a key for the same game got activated. I was pissed you know, because they accepted the key but I didn't get a second copy of the game. It was like I had lost it. At first they were not very helpful, said that there was nothing they could do. But I did not give up. Told them this only happened because of their faulty system, after all, my key shouldn't have been activated at all. So, after several messages they agreed to transfer the game to another account and I ended up giving the game to a friend of mine. At least it was not a lost game.
My advice: do not give up. I was so pissed I even wrote a few times that I thought no one really read my messages.
It's just that I really hate when things are not fair or not being done right, so I never let it go.

I'll definitely try in english next time. At least I will not have to "fight" with that annoying employee again.

The problem is that I made a mistake, it was not because of their "faulty system", you know, it was my fault and I kind of understand that they don't want to transfer it but... I searched and find lots of posts (even in steam forums) of people whose games were transfered thanks to steam support. I didn't install the game, and not playing it of course, and I can prove that I bought the game myself (I already send them a lot of screen captures).

Well, at least this give me hope :D I won't give up!

You can never transfer games from one account to another, period.

Family share it is your only option now.

That's the thing, but, under some circunstances, it is possible as it happened to many people (check the comment above, for example).

Anyway, of course, family sharing is an option in case here is nothing else I can do... :(

Create a ticket once a week - if they respond but don't help, start creating tickets twice a week.

Wasn't obvious at all. Your English is really good and you use commas better than most native English speakers lol.
Best of luck with your Steam customer support experience... I hate when they just completely ignore what you're trying to say.

Oh and also, when desperate, try Gaben :P

Thank you! Well, I might survive with my english, but it is really difficult to write in a foreign language when you are actually trying to express your emotions, which is what I wanted this time... my frustration!!!

Gaben has been contacted some minutes ago. I still got my fingers crossed. I got the feeling that, by the time I receive an answer from him or even Steam support, no one would be playing Rocket League. That would be 2020 or so.

Good luck with Steam support. I created a ticket about a month ago about a revoked product key and they took a month to reply with the same text that can be found in the FAQ. Very useful and helpful...

Thanks, it really sounds like it will take a lot of time, but I'll give it a try.

We haven't played the game, not even installed once. I read that was important and it is a mistake I realized the second after I activated the game, so, no way I was going to play it not even by mistake.

I'll resubmit a new ticket tomorrow, this time in english, and see how things develop from there...
