Turns out it's called Ctenophora ornata and is really rare here. Thanks to Zaraxis for the answer!

This thing came through my window. It's gone now, but now I'm curious what it was, and I can't find too many pictures on Wikipedia that would help. (I assume it was from the order of Diptera, I could be wrong) It was 3-4cm long

It looks evil. Do you really need to know more? Or do you just want to know how evil?

God...I hate insects... They are the mot disgusting creatures on Earth. I know they have their place and purpose in the ecosystems, but just keep them away from me. It's the only reason why I tolerate spiders, because they eat insects and keep their population in check. And because Spider- Man's my favorite super-hero :D.

Some ichneumonid species lay their eggs in the ground, but most inject them either directly into their host's body or on its surface. After hatching, the ichneumonid larva eats its host alive. Koinobionts let their host grow and develop while they feed on it. It is quite common for 10-20% or more of larvae or pupae of Lepidoptera, Coleoptera and Hymenoptera population to be parasitised.

Seriously now, maybe an Hymenoptera, Hymeroptera...? Can't remember the word for it in English.

I'm not too well versed in entomology, and Google reverse search isn't helpful.
But from the little I know, I think it could be a Hymenoptera (the same order as bees, wasps and ants).
