Hmm, I always forget about ya for some reason..
metacritic 'critic score' 69, and meta user score' 60. steam reviews showing 90% positive coming from 83 reviewss. Steam-spy thingy is showing only around 7.5k copies sold? Anddd we're talkin' Activision here. soooo yap, sticks to my statement underrated gem. (=

i don't know about how many copies supposed to be sold in three months for a game to be defined as underrated, but i know no real gamer most of the people don't gives a damn about metacritic. ._.

Bruh, we're arguing in the internetz, logical thinking is not a think we do, nor we care about contradicting ourselves.

s1n mentioned metacritic USER scores too, I don't see how those are any different than Steam user scores, user scores are user scores (I personally think both are equally useful, if you actually read the useful reviews, looking at the rating/percent is only helpful if you are getting a quick glance)

Steam user scores most times are correct because they reviewed by real gamers who own the game and have real public profiles, in metacritic you can review without owning the game like a stalker, the most times you see troll posts, check Call of Duty games reviews, maybe its the same fn games every year but 2.0/10 really?

If Steam reviews would actually point out the truth, than Bioshock 2, the insulting sequel to the greatest game ever made, would not have an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating.

Metacritic is very useful, but you have to know how to use it.
You can use it to figure out which games have (very vaguely) good or bad buzz.
If you're actually considering buying a game, look at top and bottom reviews on metacritic to get a decent sense of its good and bad points.
Although there are exceptions, games in the green range tend to be, at a minimum, slick and well-produced; games with very low scores (in the red range) tend to have catastrophic problems, though you might still like them if you can overlook those. Games in the yellow range are harder to categorize clearly; you have to look at the specific review to see if they're controversial, if they do some things very well and other things terribly, or if they're just generically mediocre.
There's no magic bullet to summarize how good a game is, but metacritic is totally a useful datapoint, especially for filtering out the top-tier "green" games worth at least knowing something about and the bottom-tier "red" trainwrecks. And people forget, I think, how hard it was to get any sort of at-a-glance summary of a game's quality (even in that level) before metacritic.
(My biggest problem with Metacritic is that most indie games don't have enough reviews to be on there at all, but that's hardly their fault.)

or i can stick to steam reviews and read from the people own the game for sure and probably played it too. have some cheap laughs. see if the devs are scumbags (positive reviews from obviously fake accounts with one or few games, negative reviews complaining about bans on the forums are red flag.). see if there are technical issues. for example for this game one person complains about bugs but since only 1 out of 65 people gave thumbs-up to it, i can tell it's most probably a troll review. or maybe same voting system is on metacritic too. don't know. i'm too lazy to check. all being said, i wasn't really looking for starting a discussion on metacritic, i wasn't expecting it to get this much attention. i guess i shouldn't have used "real gamer" on that comment. my bad. of course people can look up whereever they want and make use of it.

It only has 15 reviews and 6 user reviews on Metacritc. That is not enough to take anything from the values as a single badly reviewed (as in the review was badly done, not the game got a bad score) can throw the final score.
For instance, one of the user reviews gave it 0 due to having an un-skippable cut scene and then they uninstalled it! As that was 1/6 of all the user reviews is would have skewed the final score quite a lot.
Steam has 83 reviews, so the final score would be a lot more balanced and representative of the quality of the game.
Anyway, glad you mentioned this one as I had over-looked it. So may not be under-rated, but I would agree that it is under-recognised.
Cheers.

I'd have to go with Foul Play. I pretty much bought this only because it was dirt cheap during the recent humble store sale (paid 0.64€), got it for a friend so we can co-op and started rolling. The concept of using the theater scene and actors dressed up in various "monsters", along with some classic british slang/humor made for ~4 hours of awesome gameplay. I think it would've been even better if it had some voice acting, but nevertheless we made our own silly british accent impressions over skype so it probably ended up even better :p

it's so underrated for a good reason - when it came out it was buggy as shit, with multiple technical issues, not working AI and it took months for game to go to a playable state. It's great as it is now, but if you release good game but with game-breaking errors and are not capable to fix them quick enough - you well deserve it to get underrated.

You mean the parts in which you can only win with the help of RNG gods if you have the 'wrong' party setup (such as the 2vs2 arena matches)? If so, I have to agree with you - on the highest difficulty the game is brutal, but after finishing such a fight you will eventually understand that you need to change your strategy and that each character needs to fill multiple classes in your group.
Sure, they should have worked more on the whole inventory / shop / equipment thing, change the ending and balance the luck / strategy required for same maps (or completely redesign them), but the battles, story and leveling system were entertaining enough for me to enjoy the game.

I played mostly to always finish with all my party alive on each encounter, i remember having a hard time at the first cave, the random "drop" of the spikes always instakilled 1 or 2 of them, the same with the random chance of getting 1 shot by the dwarf duo :/

I think the joke about Witcher 3 being underrated is underrated. Sad. :(

One Way Heroics. Cheap game, but very fun. Got it for about $1.25 on a Steam sale.

Survivalist is rather a cheap game, 4.99 eur, but pretty good value for that price!
Admittedly the graphics isn't the best for today's standards, but as a fan of zombie apocalypse games, the gameplay in my opinion was surprisingly good and actually unique compared to some other games in this genre. This game is a good example of that top quality graphics isn't everything.

I had the same issue, everytime it was on sale there was another thing on sale that I wanted more but when I finally decided to buy it I didn't regret anything at all, hours of fun right there. If you like these type of games then you're gonna love it ^^

The last story -- Loved it, and I mean, LOVED IT!!!! most people dont played it just because it was a wii game, and a wii is for little kids and girls, with those crappy graphics. but I loved the game, I'll say it again. I loved. It was SO underated that they wouldnt bring it to the americas or to europe, it took a long time an a lot of people to make them bring it and even then they made so few copies that It was virtually imposible to get the game.

I'll be honest when I say this game was such a disappointment. It's sad too since it was the only game from Operation Rainfall that I was excited for (turns out Xenoblade was my most preferred of the 3 released games, although I haven't played Pandora's Tower, but I never cared for that one), hell I even pre-ordered it and got the art book that came with the game. I hate the characters, the story, and even the gameplay. I will say though, it's nice looking for a Wii game and the music is fantastic, but that's all I'll give it.

I think this has/had a chance to be in the Be Mine Bundle today, but I'm pretty sure it won't be. I'll wishlist it though, thank you.

I've never heard of it till I randomly came across it while looking for games similar to brothers - a tale of two sons (might be another somewhat underrated game)

Jurassic park the game and Back to the future the game: They aren't excellent but are a good surprise if you liked the movies.
Red faction guerrilla: It have the best destruction ever, much more than the famous battlefield. The armaggedon is worse but still is a good game.
Xcom bureau: My first xcom game and I like very much this game, completed in more hardest difficulty.
I am alive: Good game quite unique.
Consortium: Little-known but excellent indie rpg game with great ambience.

This underrated gem was developed by Obsidian. It's a TPSRPG (third person shooter rpg) It has mass effect type dialogue and decisions and a bit of splinter cell type gameplay. Overall it has flaws, like many obsidian games, but I had a blast and pleasantly surprised.

For me at the moment would be White Night .Bought this game on the day of its release and just around to playing it last night, and wowww. Considering it's black and white overtone, this game is very intense and atmospheric. The good sound design adds to the creepiness as well. Only have a couple hours logged so far, but will most definitely be completing this one
Would recommend this game to anyone who likes survival horror / film noir / and puzzle-related games. Also this game was published by Activision?!? <-- Ayy, Crazy.
Sooo did any of ya recently play something that ya consider a diamond in the rough?
