Steam checks for valid keys before checking to see if you own it? That might be a useful thing if so, as then I won't be wondering if its still unused or not.

What I do is set a contributor bar on any giveaway. Any amount, even a cent will do. The reasoning is that if someone has successfully given away something before, then that means they're likely to be more engaged with this whole SteamGifts thing and know how the system works.
Anyway, the guy has just marked his gift as received so he probably just wasn't paying attention.

It was my first giveaway, otherwise I would have done so.
Glad he got his gift alright, now I don't have to worry so much.
Will be likely taking the advice of the people above and yours in the future, thanks!

Okay, so I am in a bit of a dilemma. It won't take long for the 7 days to pass but the problem I have is, what to do if nothing happens after such?
The problem I have with it being a key give away is that, I sent it via email. So... There's many scenarios that I have to contemplate in this instance.
1-They haven't gotten time to redeem the key and give feedback for the prize.
2-If I reroll the giveaway, there's a possibility they could claim it during the duration, thus leaving me with nothing to give and getting negative feedback. (And no one wants that.)
3-They already redeemed, haven't told me and I'm stuck wondering what to do about it.
Considering it's a key, I don't think there's any way for me to know if he's actually redeemed it. Since checking his profile wouldn't mean much if he instead decided to give it to someone else. (Which wouldn't bother me, if he at least decided to tell me he got it.)
Is there any suggestions for fallback plans regarding key giveaways? Or is it a lost cause?
