Step two: look at the in game controls
Step three: dig downwards
Step four: mine and fight monsters
Step five: when sufficient ores are collected make a better sword
Step six: ?????
Step seven: profit

First, watch gameplays or "Let's Plays', so you can learn how to play with this game, and understand the mechanics,the crafting,etc. or search for a friend who wants to play with you.

I have found that figuring out what to do has been part of the fun. Sure, I could just look it up, but I find there is something uniquely satisfying in working things out for myself. In any case it makes a nice change from so many games that smother me with blunt tutorials and insist on holding my hand through half the game.

It is in the same vein as Minecraft. Do fukin what ever just have fun and make nice stuff :P. we could set up a server though. I never played server play before

It's not like minecraft. I mean, sure, you can mine, craft, build and kill stuff. But it's quite different, in the good sense. Figuring things out is part of the fun and if you have a friend who hasn't started playing or has very little play time, you should play with him/her. You can look for the basics on the wiki though if you are totally clueless.
