Has anyone encountered this before? This is the first time I've ever seen it and can't find a solution that works. It's a fresh install of the game and most of the solutions I find are to do with updating. I've tried restarting Steam and my PC multiple time. I've also tried pausing ad unpausing the download and I tried to verify the integrity of the game files.

Note: This has occurred after I accidentally deleted the game instead of verifying the files as the game was crashing on startup. After deleting it, my computer didn't give me the space back for about 2 days. Then I tried to redownload the game and now this is happening.

Try going to the game's location and deleting it there.

I could try that, the location the game was installed no longer exists though, it's gone. The game files are only in the Steam downloads folder at the moment. I'd prefer to not have to redownload the entire thing again but will give it a try if nothing else works. Thanks for the suggestion.

The server might be down, or some other issues with Steam might prevent the game from downloading.
Have you tried downloading it through Uplay?

I don't think it's the server, it's been stuck here for over 16 hours. I might try downloading through Uplay if I can't get it to work, don't really want to have to redownload the whole game if I can avoid it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've had a similar issue with a game in the past, the download would stop working when the game was almost ready to play. I can't remember what I did, I was told to redownload everything but fuck that, I have slow internet. I think I just left it overnight and then it was downloaded.

Haha yeah, don't particularly want to do that if I can avoid it. I might leave it overnight again if I don't get it to work beforehand. Thanks for the suggestion.

Try swapping your download region. Whether local or somewhere random entirely. Could just be an issue trying to connect to the server for downloads.

From the Steam Client;

-> Steam
-> Settings
-> Downloads

You'll see a dropdown for "Download Region" there. Select a different one, press OK, and reboot steam. See what happens from there.

This actually worked and I was even able to change my region back and still have it continue, thank you.

Not sure if this will help, but try resetting your router and/or modem. I've had similar issues (caused by terrible internet). And the only way it was fix was by resetting or calling my provider to complain >:3

Thanks for the suggestion but changing my region fixed it.

Yeah I was a little bit surprised that it actually worked.

Is your hard disk full by any chance? Because the download will be stuck at 0kbps if there is insufficient space. Unlikely, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion but I had enough room as the game was previously installed and nothing else had been installed, just took 2 days to get the space back. It's working now though.

That's good. I better remember this in case this happens to me! XD

It looks like your issue may not be related to Steam problems. It's odd that you deleted the game in Steam but your PC didn't give you the space back until later.

I'd run a scan on your HD, to make sure there are no errors on it (and to fix them, if there are). Afterwards run a CCleaner for good measure.

Then try the install again.

Yeah I did that, No errors on my hard drives and CCleaner gave me only 8gb back from temporary files. So I'm at a loss as to what temporarily happened to that 25gb. Got it working again by switching Steam's region.

Ok, so now the game has stopped downloading again, it stopped at 19.2gb so only downloaded around 500mb and that was left overnight. Changing regions doesn't work anymore, anyone got any other ideas?
