Welcome all to the 2nd "2in20" (Two Games in 20 Hours) Event.
Ran the first one last year around this same time.

The event is now OVER! Ended 23:59, 10th August, NZST

Giveaways are now live!

34 people have successfully finished.
Because we had over 30 people complete the event, it means I might actually run another event in a couple of months. (Thank you.)
We have about 10 other people who I have deemed eligible for entrance into the bonus giveaway.

The prize for the event is entrance into two giveaways: Death's Door and Spiritfarer

  • There's also a mystery, unbundled giveaway, to be added for all participants who put a reasonable effort in to enter!
The bonus giveaway is now revealed to be for The Sojourn
  • Entrance into giveaways is on the agreement you will play the game within 2 months of winning.
  • You may only win one game in this event - if you manage to win more, then I will ask for a re-roll for the one of your choosing.

Rules Of Event:

The event will start and end within a specific time of 10 days as announced by myself (00:00, 1st - 23:59, 10th August NZST)
Play ONE or TWO games that require a minimum combined total time of 20 hours or more to beat, within the event time

Games must meet these requirements (and are subject to further discretion by myself):

  • have achievements
  • are NOT 0CV games, or have never been given away free. (I'll be the judge on eligibility.)
  • you haven't previously started playing (idle time from card farming is generally ok)
  • have a game ending/completion (end-game achievement). MP or Sandbox games will not be allowed.
  • are beaten within the ten days of the event (DON'T start before the event starts!)

Comment with the games you'd like to play:

  • I recommend choosing backup games, just in case you don't like one of your original picks.
  • PLEASE post with links to HLTB pages and your achievements pages for the games you want to play.
  • I will then confirm length, status, achievements, eligibility.
  • if the selected or game(s) barely meet the minimum required game-time, then I may ask you to re-pick.

Fineprint:

  • If you're using HLTB, check the "Main story" time. This is the rough MINIMUM amount of time required to beat the game. I only require you to beat/finish the game, not 100% it.
  • If you choose a game or games that barely meet the minimum game-times, then I may request longer game(s) to be chosen.
  • Most games have a "complete the story/game" achievement. If your game doesn't have an "end-game" achievement, then you must let me know so I can review the choice.
  • it is your responsibility to make sure the games meet the criteria stated - if I find out after the event has started that one of the games is ineligible (freebie, too short, no end-game achievement, started before the event, etc.), then I won't be held responsible for that.
  • Once you;ve beaten the game(s), reply to first post of the thread. I'll add you on Steam, and send giveaway link(s) once live.
  • If you don't post a comment before the event is over, please don't come crying to me to make an exception for you.
  • If you don't link your Steam achievement pages for each game you complete, I will classify your completion as invalid.
  • I will run the giveaway(s) after the event is over, to give me more time to check and send invites, and set giveaway end-date.

If anyone's interested I also played 2in20 as well (but on Gamepass for the month):

  • Call of the Sea. took about 6 hours on my first playthrough, with an extra 90 mins to mop up achievements. It's a great walking sim/puzzle game with lovecraft elements. The puzzles are fairly simple, if you hunt for the clues, and the story is fairly unique and interesting. Definitely worth checking out.
  • Slime Rancher (Adventure mode). Roughly 20hrs, still missing a few things from the Slimepedia, etc, but I might continue for a little longer to see if I can get them before I call it a day. As for the gadgets and other incredulous stuff, seems little point in most of it. The devs may have big ambitions but there's just not enough gameplay. I wouldn't recommend.

I don't play games

The Great Ace Attorney released today so I'm going to be playing that atm, it depends on me being done with the game before the event starts. It also depends on whether or not I'm interested in the game that gets picked. I don't know if that counts as an entry but take it as an interest.

I'd love to participate but I do not know yet if I'll be able to, depending on the days it takes place. I'm gonna be away from home between 5 and 11 August, so I won't be able to play anything then.

A few games I thought of playing:
Tell Me Why - 9,5h
Batman: The Enemy Within - 10h
Wolfenstein: The New Order - 11,5h
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood - 6h
Doom - 11,5h

If you change your mind - Tell Me Why isn't eligible as it was a freebie.

I won't accept Wolfenstein Old Blood, as it's too short.

I would like to participate in the event, if I won't end up in your blacklist again.

2 games to play:
Syberia 3 - Achievements / HLTB: 12h
A Plague Tale: Innocence - Achievements / HLTB: 10Β½h

or

1 game:
Hades - Achievements / HLTB: 21h - finished. End achievement - The Family Secret

And for suggestions, tbh, I don't know. You've already had the best idea - to use the community wishlist.

Don't you remember the first rule of blacklists?

Also, getting suggestions from participants makes more sense cos they're the one's who are gonna benefit from a giveaway they want - not the other 99.9999% of SG users.

These are kinda subject to change a little bit depending on when the event ends up starting (and if I can find more suitable options) but consider me on board like last time. ^_^

Deleveled - 7.5 hours
99 Spirits - 13 hours

Edit:
Since I swaped Deleveled for Particle Fleet, here are the links again for easy access in one spot:. :)

I won't accept this based on low poll numbers for both of these games. Swap Deleveled out for a longer game and I'll accept it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's a SG win though, and I plan on 100%-ing both games in that time frame. >.<

Well, if that's not enough to convince you, I guess I could switch Deleveled for... Particle Fleet (9.5 hours)? ...That one doesn't really have more votes on HLTB... I guess the games I play tend to be not too popular. :/
(As a... less desirable backup backup I could also do Sunrider: Liberation Day. It's also 9.5 hours and has a few extra votes. ^_^' )

PS: If you make a vote for which games to giveaway, may I suggest a multiple choice vote (so, somewhere outside of SG)? Aka, ask people to vote for all the games in the list which they are interested in rather than picking just one. Then the most desired games will have the highest % of people who voted for them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Main story is the rule, 100% is optional.
The problem was that it barely hits 20hours (which is the minimum playtime I'm requiring) with the two original choices.
I'm happy to accept Particle Fleet or Sunrider: LD as your secondary game.

EDIT: AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I USE MAIN GAME AVERAGE AS THE MINIMUM, (and why low poll numbers are inaccurate) - Particle Fleet average was 9.5 hours, and you end up 100%ing it in 8.5 hours.

This event is for entrance into a giveaway for (Game TBA)

Have edited my main post now to make this a bit clearer.

Oh cool! Thanks that makes sense, I'm definitely interested! I won his giveaway last month for It Takes Two but beating six games was really a task because I didn't choose short games lol.

My submissions would be Supraland | 13 hours | 12.8h played (that HLTB of 13h was pretty spot on), with the final achievement being Win! Towards the end this game relied heavily on colors, especially with the final boss fight, and I'm red/green colorblind and there was no colorblind mode so I had to look up how to do it >.<

And Opus Magnum | 20.7 hours | 0h played, final achievement: The Way of the Alchemist
This is my new favorite puzzle game EVER!! There is not one particular solution but you have tools and give programmed instructions and there are no limitations on how you solve the puzzle so you can make a super convoluted solution that works just to get it done or you can try to streamline it for speed, size, or cost, and there are some CRAZY solutions for each of those metrics. I am so so so excited about this game and am so glad I played it, I will definitely end up replaying it probably multiple times because it's so addicting to try and make your machine just a bit faster or just a bit smaller.

Forgot to list my prospective games.

Batman: The Enemy Within - HLTB 10 hours / Achievements / 0h time
Wolfenstein: The New Order - HLTB 11.5 hours / Achievements / 0h time
Pyre - HLTB 11 hours / Achievements / 3.1h idle time
Batman: Arkham Asylum - HLTB 11 hours / Achievements / 1.4h idle time
Marvel's Avengers - HLTB 11.5 hours / Achievements / 4.1h idle time

In Avengers I did open the game to claim some limited-time freebies in the in-game shop. If you exclude it, I understand your decision.

I ended up completing:

Marvel's Avengers - Achievements ("New Girl Makes Good" is the final storyline achievement to finish the main "Reassemble" campaign) Screenshot
Beaten in about 13-14 hours, with some extra playtime to experiment with the "endgame" missions during 4x XP bonus period.

I can often find it hard to articulate my thoughts on a game, but it feels particularly difficult with Avengers. The whole package feels like something that could have been amazing but was hampered by insistences on having a "live service" post-campaign gameplay loop.

Unfortunately, I never quite got the hang of the combat; there is definitely depth there, but all the abilities, gear, skill points and mechanics mesh together to create unnecessary layers of complexity. Gear in particular feels like a convoluted, unsatisfying mess where the majority of gear doesn't really feel different and gives unsatisfying bonuses, embodying some of the worst tendencies of big-budget "AAA" game design in games with stats and RPG elements. That system in particular could use a major overhaul. It feels like having a big cast of diverse heroes goes over more smoothly in a more narrowly tailored game like Marvel Heroes, where the isometric camera can help keep things grounded. I don't really mind the relative lack of "iconic" Marvel locations and villains, but I do wish the gameplay maps and objectives that are present had more variation and dynamic elements.

At its heart, Kamala Khan's story is about a kid who wants to be like her heroes, which is done well and a suitable theme for a superhero ensemble game. It has its share of cheesy platitudes and cliches, but it mostly comes with the territory in this line of work. The post-launch story campaigns seem interesting, but probably something where I would want to get some friends to join me.

Batman: The Enemy Within - Achievements
Took about 9 hours.

Some of the efforts to make the gameplay feel more involved, like adding more button prompts with increased complexity, could feel annoying. But overall, I feel both Telltale Batman games are solid and The Enemy Within is probably in the top 5 of the studio's best games. Like its predecessor, The Enemy Within tends to pay off more story beats early on than you would expect from most Telltale works, but raises the stakes quickly to follow up. The writers also deftly weaved in the moral questions and quandaries that define Batman's philosophy and personal crusade.

I've said it a few times before, but I'm not as concerned about the "in Telltale games your choices don't really matter!" argument, because in the game's most tense moments I really do buy in and feel like I'm making serious decisions with consequences. I have a couple I want to take back, but it looks like the series is on ice for a long while anyway.

I would definitely like to join! Challenges to the backlog are always appreciated. :)

Suggestions: I already +1'd Return of the Obra Dinn and Nanotale: Typing Chronicles. My third suggestion would be Loop Hero, available from both Humble and Fanatical.

I'll start with these two games if they're acceptable, maybe add some backup choices tomorrow when I'm not so tired.
edit: Added a new shorter game and several backups.

Game HLTB Completion Achievement Notes
Yooka-Laylee 15 hours OUT OF BUSINESS Primary long game
There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension 5 hours I want to PLAY!! OR Future of the planet, and all that... (Too short)
Ittle Dew 2+ 6 hours I Feel a Raft Primary shorter game
The Dark Eye: Memoria 8.5 hours Chapter Eight Complete Backup shorter game
Alwa's Awakening 8 hours Alwa's Awakening? Backup shorter game
Pyre 11 hours True Freedom Backup shorter game

And if I get tired of all those games, I might unwind with Spiritfarer since that's one of the prizes.

Yeah I'm planning to do chaos child which is classed as 32 hours. Considering chaos head is classed as 24 hours but im at chapter 7 of 10 5 and a half hours I don't trust that chaos child is true but it could surprise me.

But yeah if I was planning on doing something bigger like witcher for example I know I could focus on that rather then 2 shorter games that barely fit the time just to inch in. Or even do witcher and then have to put aside a couple of hours to put in like a super short game. Theres been mention of how people like to look at everything which I'm certain a part o

Oh I saw the games you posted, like maya I've done both bayonetta and beyond two souls. Great games, still need to go back and complete the "bad" side of beyond two souls

VN time to 100% is so annoying. People just put the game on skip mode and then record that it takes 1 hour or whatever to complete it. Do you happen to know if proper read times are recorded somewhere? Minus having to guess by Steam reviews.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No idea, I know sometimes in the discussions people mention a length and I'm there like huh it took me half that time but yeah 10 hours seems fitting for a slow person maybe but thats not something that appears everywhere. With idling as well you cant trust steam reviews as I assume this 1 hour visual novel didn't take a couple of hundred hours but maybe they had to translate every single letter.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun | HLTB

Peaky Blinders: Mastermind | HLTB

The first 10 minutes had several frame drops as I knew there were when it was released, but after that it runs all good.
