I just cleaned my monitor! Go give it a try.

Seriously, everything looks crispier, sharper and less blurry.

UPDATE:

Many of you asked for specific instructions on cleaning your laptop/pc, so here it is:

1 Required Hardware:

  • 1 can of compressed air

  • 1 bottle of TFT/LCD cleaning liquid

  • 1 (specific, tested and officially verified) piece of cloth

  • Fiddlesticks... I mean cotton buds (cotton swabs in the colonies)

2 Required Tools:

  • 1 hand (or 2 hands in SLI, it's optional)

  • eyes

  • time

3 Method:

  • Gently spray the screen cleaning moisture on the screen and repeatedly rub it with your screen cleaning wipe. Repeat if necessary.

  • Take the can of compressed air and send small blasts of air into all the holes of your laptop/pc (until the can freezes to your hand, then remove it while loudly cursing)

  • Use the earbuds to clean your keyboard, mouse and ears.

Dear Laptoprocker Hotline Support,

I can't clean it! I bought it used, and it seems that someone threw glue in the monitor! Please help! I tried wiping the screen, but instructions were unclear, my keyboard went through the window!

Maybe the rag you used for wiping and/or the cleaning agent weren't compatible with your monitor.

I don't know, I used the 64-bit Win7 one... Is this the right one?

That should be correct.
Make sure your monitor is plugged in and the drivers for the rag and cleaning agent are up-to-date.

If the problem persists, please contact your cleaning agents provider.

I know an even better one...buy an IPS monitor...

IPS will give you richer colors, but has worse response time and input lag compared to TN panels (especially when compared to the 120-144Hz panels), so it depends on what kind of gaming you do. :)

ONLY when compared to 120/144Hz panels.

Also input lag and response time don't go hand-in-hand....IPS panels actually do quite well at input lag (MUCH better than your common Samsung LCD or any TV). Response time yes, they're 1 or 2 MS behind BUT that is offset by their superior contrast because you can actually see a greater range of motion and thus respond as fast or faster than you could with a TN panel, especially older ones (at least that's been my experience...I had a 2MS GTG monitor before, now a 6MS IPS and it's as fast if not faster because some of the blur I experienced on the old monitor came from it's poor contrast and excessive gamma shifts (in other words often stuff was too dark).

Gone are the days when IPS meant inability to play games, you get 5/6MS units (especially from ASUS) these days which are every bit a consideration for 98% of the gamers out there that don't collect money from the likes of CoolerMaster at pro-gaming leagues.

Just use water. You shouldn't really be using any cleaning chemicals on your screen anyway

What removes spray paint from monitors without doing any damage?
A friend of mine(not anymore cuz of this) painted his bike next to my computer and accidentally hit part of my screen. I have no idea why he painted his bike next to my computer(or why was the bike there in the 1st place) but it hit my screen. Hopefully it was only in the corner, but still annoys me.

scrape it off with a credit card or ID, then use water and a lint-free cloth to clean the screen. it blows, but there really aren't any chemicals that you can use without damaging your screen (goo-gone, paint thinner, etc.). if it's really stubborn maybe try a 50/50 solution of isopropyl alcohol (water/alcohol), but be really careful and wipe it with water quickly afterwards to avoid over-drying of your screen.

Also you can put the monitor in the dishwasher.

I usually just put the monitor into the dishwasher. Don't use the normal detergent though; fill the dishwasher's detergent slot with the monitor cleaning fluid instead. Set it to around 40C/104F.

While the dishwasher is working, visit your e-shop and order a new monitor, cause when the dishwasher is finished, you'll need one.

A more modern approach is to put the screen inside your microwave oven (maximum power, 15 minutes). I am telling you, all the dust is gone now!

In another note, anybody knows where to get a 65" HD microwave oven? My living room TV needs cleaning too.

I killed a mosquito a few weeks ago while he was resting on my screen.
Immediately afterward I tried cleaning the mark he left there, but I couldn't get the most of it, i scratched off some of it, but it may leave some other marks there. That cleaning tip did not help. I want a refund.
