Always the things with shorts, sometimes they can be better then other stuff. I've recently gotten into dead meat who shows of stuff from crypt tv on youtube and they do so many horror shorts which as you said are like better then most big budget. I don't even like horror type stuff but there are some like the sunny family cult that are intriguing and look see

Jennette Mccurdy released one of her short movies on youtube not long ago. It's pretty great. Kenny. I enjoy short movies, but I really dislike how almost all of them don't really have a conclusion. They're entertaining because they are the pure meat of what makes movies enjoyable. They have to be, because there's no time to do anything else. But full-length movies are just way superior as a media. They have the time to transmit a proper built story that will stick much more with you than a short story ever could. Case in point, every time a short movie is good, everyone will say they want a proper movie with the same concept.

I would argue the opposite. For me, especially lately, it feels like some movies are draaaaagging a premise or a concept without any real idea of how to develop it narratively, whereas a lot of shorts, because they don't have to fill 85 to 100 minutes with their concept, tend to be more intense and straight to the point.
Obviously there are many different types of shorts and it's not always true. Some wander seemingly aimlessly for 10 minutes in poetic images or pointless dialogs.
Case in point, every time a short movie is good, everyone will say they want a proper movie with the same concept.
Could also just be that people are greedy and if you give them one scoop of the perfect ice cream, they ask "great, now when can I get 8 or 10 pints?"
Doesn't mean it's less good or less perfect in the short format.

Good point. But who wants just a spoonful of a good ice cream? Sure, one spoon only doesn't mean the ice cream is bad. It's just not ideal.

And not only isn't there a ceremony for these like the Oscars but the Academy just took the Oscar for best Live Action Short off the list of the Oscars that will go in the telecast. 😒
Le Ballon Rouge was one of the first I remember seeing as a kid, back when theatres showed shorts before movies for kids (yes I'm that old 😎)
And of course More, one of the best animated shorts I've seen, with a bit of Citizen Kane feel

Wow. I just saw a few of these (been watching for a while now) and I have to say. Is it me, or are many of these better than 99% of Hollywood's big budget so-called blockbuster movies? There really needs to be an awards ceremony for these like the Oscars.

Dead Friends A tale of how a man and his dog's friendship can transcend even death itself.
Zombie in a Penguin Suit I've shared this one before but I STILL love it. VERY well done. That music in it.
Changing Batteries Another I've shared in the past. Still a favorite of mine.
Less than Human A fun take on post zombie life.
Sorry, I know they all seem dark, but it's all I have saved right now.
