^ Thisss do much.
Just saw a dude with 2 indiegame the movie giveaways a while back, and a shitload of phantom ops giveaways the last few days, his contrib. value went from 10 to 400-500, i.m.o. that's just wrong, and people like that ruin the contributor giveaways for people that actually deserve to join them, for investing so much of their time and money into this site (as in, they take the time to comment on the forums, create puzzles & look for nice games to giveaway)

Lol, i was actually going to mention you as an example of the people who just gave that game away for the sake of making the winners happy, but then i realized the way i wrote that, it could be misunderstood, so i deleted that part of the post.
The 2 of you are actually a prime example of why i even started gifting, you guys gave away so much awesome games that you deserve to enter the higher contributor value giveaways i.m.o. and not some random dude who's sole purpose on this site is to "invest" a couple of bucks in order to suck out as many games as possible.

I agree! These losers should have just bought tons of Nexuiz and then Paradox Packs with EC credit from Amazon a while back! Remember the uproar when that happened?!!11 They would have received much more contributor value for less money than these gala games.
Down with this sort of thing! C..?

Suit themselves, there are people who will actually attempt to enter games like that (hell i remember the good old Crazy Machines games, but i have no idea if they have the same levels or anything, since i don't usually pay attention to bundles, i completely skipped this one).
The "abuse" lies in the fact that the game (in the case of Shadow Ops) is valued at 20USD instead of 1, but there is no circumvent of the sites rules; if this were to be over, SG would have to lower the contributor value of said games to 1, but it probably won't stop people from giving them away.

I don't see it any different than Amazon bundles, can get well over $100 contributor value for under $10 if you live in USA. Steam also runs 90% off sales occasionally, and combining sales and coupons on GMG can yield great discounts. None of these are considered exploitative. People will always find a way around the system, once every hole is filled, everything will be devalued.

While the abuse/exploit words weren't used, some people did comment on this issue before - it's just been noticed more now, and looking back, things such as the amazon bundles and mass-purchased misprices are a part of the same problem. For me, when I noticed people saying they were going to raise their contributor values to compensate for this, I became concerned that it's part of a cycle which may have overall negative effects for the site/community as a whole, plus it's just pretty ridiculous that the Steamgifts system encouraged some of its members to give the Gala store hundreds of dollars for games that nobody really expressed much interest in.

With people saying buying Shadow Harvest/Crazy Machines and giving it away is abuse. Who is exactly abusing what?
You buy it legally for a price set by IG store. You give it away and you get contributor points and moderators approve it since they do nothing to change it.
Some of you need to look up in the dictionary and understand, acknowledge what words abuse and exploit mean.
