Either....

Scrooged because Bill Murray is the hero we don't deserve.

or

It's a Wonderful Life because its an absolute classic!

Alongside all this, I always watch Groundhog day during the holiday season even though its not a Christmas film per se!

You're going to try and make her watch all 3 films?

It's always good when a movie series gets it right, and stick to a trilogy and then just stop. Yup. Just 3 die hards exist.

Shhhhhhhhhh. Just 3.

Gremlins... and The nightmare before Xmas.

As for why, I think it's just that A- gizmo is too cute for words B- childhood nostalgia and for the second, I love the songs.

I had one, but can't remember what it was. Damned senility.

Anyway, just started to watch Hogfather, which is Christmas related and quite enjoyable so far.

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, A Nightmare Before Christmas, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie (1998)

I watched them every Christmas as a kid. There were others, but these I remember enjoying the most.

Santa Claus Is a Stinker is, like wikipedia says, a cult movie here in France. It still makes me laugh hard, even if I saw it a dozen time in the past 30 years :)
Another one I like very much is Bad Santa.
To answer the "why": because I'm bad taste oriented, and both of these movies made me laugh for real.

What is your favourite X-mas Movie

Tokyo Godfathers

and why?

Movie summary: Three homeless companions—a runaway girl, a transvestite, and an alcoholic—find an abandoned newborn on Christmas Eve while foraging through trash. Using clues found next to the baby, they fan out through Tokyo to find the parents, along the way confronting reminders of their own lives they have nearly abandoned.
