You have absolutely no idea? Not even the slightest inkling?

i did some research. that game came out after i quitted videogames, let alone arcades which was well before. this is why I never played it. i think i have a kollection sitting somewhere in my backlog, exactly in that place from where it will not come out likely ever.

Growing up with it is one thing, but I can't see it being worth it to explore MK's back catalogue if you never played.

Why not? Recently got into watching them myself, youtubers like Maximilian dood and uncaged games are great, you should consider maybe getting back into the mix, you've missed out on too much awesomeness, Mortal Wombat's story isn't even well told in MK - MK3, MK9 and MKX are the best ones at that, realy recommend a watch, you could have also participated in the free online before beta testing in mkx recently. But anyway, don't understand why you got out of them when their so good. Also, "TBS"...?

TBS=turn based strategy. Used to play MK when I was way young and played them on some old consoles as well (cartridges and shit). MK3 I played on PC though. I played one must fall demo on floppy disks as well, but after that I got more into point and clicks and TBS games.
I actually won Mortal Kombat X here on SG so it is in my backlog. I really haven't played any fighting games like in the past 7-8 years I think or maybe even more (recall once playing MK3 with a friend for like an hour or so). But that is actually a good idea to give the genre a spin again after all this time.

oooOOOooo....if you wouldn't mind, could you recommend any TBS for me that are on the PC? If you play what I am thinking of, I loved the Front Mission games, some Fire Emblem, Disgaea, Project X Zone, Xcom, but I do not know of much outside of those, let alone any good ones.

My all time favorite is the jagged alliance series, but it's a little dated (don't play the new ones). Jagged Alliance 2 is really nice and so is unfinished business. Jagged Alliance 1 and Jagged alliance: Deadly games are also very nice but they are old looking and if you are really into JA2 then it's worth the shot.
I also have played at lot of the civilization series, mostly II and III. Haven't had the time to go into IV and V yet, but it's a very solid TBS series.
Fallout 1, 2 and tactics are nice TBS (it's more of a turn based tactics game actually) games with heavy RPG elements.
More older games: Heroes of might and magic III (actually there might be others in the series, but this I can really recommend), Age of Wonders series, Silent Storm (have it in my backlog, but it's widely recommended),
Newer games:
Expeditions: Conquistador is a nice indie gem that I really enjoyed. The battle is somewhat limited, but the RPG elements make up for the shortcomings.
Hard West - actually helped to kickstart this and it has a really a nice story and polish. For me the battle is a bit limited again (then again I find the new xcom battle to be limited as well), but it is very solid.
Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall - basically same description as the Hard West. The battle has more variety in terms of abilities and weapons though.
Dwarf run - made by one guy and it looks really dated, but it is actually pretty hard to play if you aren't a veteran TBS. Has less polish.
I can recommend a couple more, but the others are more of a ok experience - for example I enjoyed Blackguards series, but it's not as great as the others.
Disclaimer: It's somewhat wrong to recommend all of this titles under TBS, because strategy is the overall campaign plan and tactics is smaller game so a lot of this do not have strategy elements and only have turn based gameplay on a tactical level. But is quite common to pool them together under one genre.

Just an heads-up: if you happen to go for Heroes of Might and Magic III (which you should: it's an awesome game), be sure to get the version up at GOG, which has the expansions and everything, not the Steam HD version.

Hey hey, much appreciated for that tidbit. Will do, especially since it has now been recommended to me again. Thank you bunches :D

Oddly enough, I actually preferred the way MK was handled in Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon with you being able to roam the maps and all that instead of only being able to fight. Still though, 9 and X are pretty decent :)

Fuck Noob. Annoying piece of shit character.
Rain or Ermac would be my picks. Can't decide D:.

I don't, definitely not as worse as cheap ranged cheese Ermac or too fast off screen range hard hitting bullshitter Noob, I'm just kinda tired of him after MKX (even though he's not playable, crazy huh), and he does have his own share of cheap ass bullshitter. But definitely has more charm and style and originality than those two.
