So, like many others I was 300% sure VR is a silly gimmick and wasn't interested at all, didn't follow news, reviews, even had it's tag blocked on Steam store... until I got a Quest2 and tried Fruit Ninja (gift giver preloaded it for me...) and said "meh". Then I got $10 store credit, got Vader Immortal ep1 and realized "HOLY MACARONI"!!1!

Anyway, I've finished all 3 episodes of Vader Immortal and have HL Alyx wishlisted (already got it recommended) but I'm wondering if people who have Quest2 or a similar VR headset can recommend me a few more good/solid games on Oculus store, and ofc. on Steam.

Like, something you've played and know it's more than a casual gimmick like Fruit Ninja VR. Something with a story, substance... If it's a Steam game that supports VR but I need to use a regular gamepad, please mention it as a note.

Thanks!

When did you get yours Quest 2 and how much did you pay for it ? I was interested last month in getting one, but on the official site it said 300 euros but it was 500e in tech stores locally, which made me not buying it at the end.

I'm in Germany and you can get Ocolust Quest II @ Amazon France or Spain mostly for somewhat the official price like 300-350 for the 128GB version.

Same here in Russia. I ended up purchasing it it from Amazon for $340 ($300 for headset and $40 for delivery). Spent about $50 more for accessories (a data cable plus Chinese replica of Elite strap).

Half-Life Alyx
Beat Saber (!!!)
Moss
A Fisherman's Tale
Blade & Sorcery
Google Earth VR(free)
VRChat(free)
Superhot VR
Skyrim VR (only with Mods)

Not really recommended:
House Flipper VR (non VR is good)

also heard good of:

Gorn(Fighting)
Job SImulator
Cooking Simulator VR
I Expect You To Die
Boneworks

IMO Quest2 with decent graphic card and Ocolus Air Link (5GHZ Wifi plx) or 5 metre connection cable (even better quality) works really good for SteamVR.

Elite Strap is a bonus for more comfort and better battery time,it's sadly a bit short.

Good story games would be Alyx, Moss, Skyrim ofc.

Beat Saber for Arcade Rhythm Game and Music.

Others are somewhat Fighting or Sandbox. Killing someone in Blade & Sorcery is fucking realistic - psychopath simulator <3

Yes I have a 5Ghz wifi and airlink is on, played a bit with SteamVR and set up the things. But most of my games on Steam are not VR, I have maybe a few that support it but require a gamepad/keyboard/wheel with it (Dirt Rally 2, Senua's Sacrifice) and honestly, those are not games for a beginner VR gamer. I'm aware it's still sort of niche market (even with 10M Quest2 sold and 16M PSVR I guess) but was hoping there are some "real" games for me to find.

I've heard of Alyx that's wishlisted, heard of Beat Saber too, though I'm not sure about that one but why not. I'm more into story games. Not sure about Skyrim as I've already finished it twice but it does fit what I'm looking for.
Moss seems interesting for later.
A fishermans tale seems weird as hell, putting that on my wishlist!
Blade and Sorcery, I wanna avoid EA, also doesn't seem there's much story more like sandbox.

Yes batter time is short, but honestly I don't mind, I try to limit myself to 30-40 min sessions anyway to avoid headaches or whatever.

If you like Story, you'll love especially Fishermans Tale, also Moss.

You can try Beat Saber on the Ocolus Store 4 free, installing on your Quest2, without PC rendering. GFX is really good too.

And yeah, it definitely not a story game, but one of the best VR Games imo.

I've just checked, when I find Beat Saber in Oculus store, it says $29.99, there's no option to try for free. maybe there's a demo elsewhere that I don't see.

edit: Found it, OMG this is going on a wishlist!

try the clones, someone told me they liked one of the clones better mightve been audica, theres quite a few. also dont sleep on applab some decent free stuff in there, more hit than miss but price is right. also in app lab that looks interesting is iron guard, like mech battles i think

superhot is a great game for beginers cause its all roomscale no locomotion. unless your space is super small. also for all vr games never use snap turn. think thats what most newbies are doing wrong when it comes to motion sickness. always turn with your whole body instead

You gotta try Lone Echo, I think it's one of the best VR games out there. It's also an Oculus exclusive. You might want the sequel too, but I'm not sure if it lives up to the original.

If you enjoy MMOs (and maybe even if you don't) I can recommend giving Zenith a look. After years of development it's releasing in Early Access on all platforms in no less than two days (at 10 AM PST). I've been following their progress since late 2020 and I can confidently say this is a solid title that is already drawing the attention of a huge chunk of the VR community. Priced at $27 with the current launch discount - keep in mind with many features yet to be developed over the upcoming years, but with a solid foundation in place.

for best value the quest vr fanatical bundle is still active i think for a couple days most games are old except zombieland but its a good deal for new vr people $15 for 7 games plus a 60% off code for zero caliber (havent gotten zero caliber but looks good). all keys are for oculus store so quest native and pc.

besides that you should mostly avoid games $30+ on quest store (unless you got your 30% off coupon code) cause theyre kinda not worth it usually (relatively to other avaiable titles. obvioulsy the best stuff s on pc and primarily through mods

quest native
population 1 gets most of my time followed by
pokerstars
virtual desktop over airlink for steamvr games (optomize your wifi for wireless pcvr)
everyone is playin after the fall but its like a mini side mode game charging full price
gamepass
star wars squadrns
alien isolation (gamepad vr mod)
subnautica 1 and 2 (gamepad vr mod)
tetris (meh)
ark (gamepad vr mod) kinda broken
hitman trilogy (vr kinda brokem)
outer wilds might be on gamepass dont remember (gamepad vr mod)

steam
resident evil 2 (vr mod)
resident evil 3 (vr mod)
monster hunter rise (gamepad vr mod)
valhelm vr mod
payday 2
risk of rain 2 probably best vr mod done
projct rtd (if on sale and really like tower defense/auto battlers)
battlegroupvr for space rts but its not easy am stuck on like the third stage
elite dangerous (space trucking, either gamepad or hotas)
wingman (heard good things)
vrchat on pc will blow you away more than most games
neos even better but harder and less people (more about "props" than avatars)
operation warcade not bad if on sale
no mans sky is a must play
borderlands 2 vr only if youve never played the flat version, will be dissapointed otherwise)

racing games
dirt 2 (dirt 1 is vr also may be able to catch a ga for it)
asseto corsa (both versions are vr but only the old one is moddable)
one of the monster truck jam games is hidden vr
i think project cars 2 but doesnt work right with gamepad need steering wheel

games to stay away from
killing floor, not even if only a buck
grip
probably all kart racers for motion sickness reasons
Vorpx unless you have a 3080 gpu and want to play flat games in 3d (using as intended for forcing vr not very pleasent but flat non 3d games in stereoscopc 3d looks great but takes up to much resources, my 1070 cant hang)

probably missing a bunch already have a huge backlog

recently there are quite a few vr bundles which can help with finding some decent games quite cheap.
eg. loved gloomy eyes, quite short raher vr animation than game made me a great day.
Actually there are a lot great recommendations already (btw started HL Alyx recently, amazing so far) if you have children or friends afgter a rew beers try Acron: Attack of the Squirrels!. You can play with multiple people, one on headset, others on mobiles, pretty easy but fun game when there is good mood

BTW, there are some really intense and realistic shooters out there but I have pretty bad motion sickness and real walking in VR is making my mind and stomache crazy really fast

Friend of mine swears by Pavlov VR, essentially CS:GO in VR. But it's quality too. Check out the many rave reviews on the storefront
