I love that you're only doing half an hour. Getting that sort of first impression then stopping is a good way to work out which games you'll actually enjoy most. The ones that stick out in your head, return to.
I should really be doing the same, I have a fair few unplayed games stacking up.. and then there are all these sales happening which are bound to bump that list up..

Why keep entering when you have that many sitting around waiting to be played?

I get the principle that you'll play them one day, but why not use the time spent entering to play some of them earlier on?

Like some others, I've always entered giveaways on the basis that 'one day I'll have time to play them', if I win. Well, as of yesterday, I'm on a 13 week summer holiday, and have ample time to play. So, I'm going to try and give each and every one of those 105 games about half an hour of my time, and write a brief review.
Let us begin.
A Game of Thrones - Genesis - I wasn't expecting much from this after being disappointed by the Game of Thrones RPG. Sadly, I wasn't proven wrong. While it seems an interesting concept, that I imagine would get better over time, the tutorial didn't encourage me to play on at all. NEXT.
Alan Wake - atmospheric, good-looking, interesting story... and that's just the first half hour. I'll definitely be returning to this one. Perhaps not in the middle of night, however.
Antichamber - I'd played this one a little before this thread, and was impressed and bemused in equal measure. Particularly like how there are lots of routes that branch off, so if you get stuck somewhere, you can go off on a different path and come back to the other later.
Assassin's Creed - bit sad that I can't play this in full-screen, or in 4:3 (1280x1024 is the future, guys), but it's still an enjoyable game. The controls appear to be a little fiddly, even using my X360 controller, but I'm sure I'll get used to it over time. Another one I'll be coming back to.
Atom Zombie Smasher - seems to be a good little time-waster. Easy to get into and a bit of fun.
BEEP - cute little platformer. I love the little robot. <3
Blades of Time - hack and slash isn't exactly my favourite genre, but I still enjoyed this. I might come back to it, undecided at the minute.
Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition - I'd be lying if I said I had any idea what was going on here. Can't see myself playing it again.
Cities XL 2012 - not bad, but not as good as the classic SimCity games. I got bored fairly quickly.
Crazy Machines - it's... okay. That's about all I can say. Can't help but hate this guy.
Crazy Machines 1.5 Inventors Training Camp - somewhat more bearable than the first one. But he still won't shut up about his home contents insurance.
Crazy Machines 1.5 New from the Lab - again, more bearable than the first one. Featuring next-level physics.
Dead Island - summarised this later in the thread so I'll just repeat. The combat is enjoyable, and the range of missions is nice, but I'm yet to fully work out how the inventory system actually works. I've heard from friends that the co-op is a lot of fun.
Deadlight - really enjoying this. Very easy on the eye, story seems to be going well. Couple of issues though. The combat is quite clunky, I know you're not meant to attack everything, but even just getting past 2 or 3 zombies can be a struggle. And for some reason, pausing the game freezes it for a few seconds. Don't know if that's just me. Looking forward to returning to it.
Demigod - the first MOBA of the list, and sadly not the last. Why do MOBAs never include tutorials? This was my first game, teaming up with 2 'Nightmare' difficulty AIs versus 2 easy ones. Well, at least I got some assists. Finally, fuck Stardock DRM.
Deus Ex: Invisible War - not too bad, but definitely doesn't have the same 'wow factor' as the original (or HR). I won't be hurrying back to it, maybe one day though.
Don't Starve - was so happy when I won this. Put in a few hours and I've been a tad disappointed by it if I'm honest. It's certainly a good game, but perhaps it's been hyped too much.
Dota 2 - a lot more enjoyable than Demigod, but that really isn't saying much. At least it has tutorials! I just don't think I'll ever understand MOBAs.
Fable - The Lost Chapters - yay, this was good fun. Definitely keeping it installed to play again later. Only issue so far is the camera seems to move weirdly, makes me feel a bit ill. I haven't played around with the settings yet though, so it could just be that.
Faerie Solitaire - nice little time-waster. Don't really have any problems with it, it's a decent game. Also, trading cards.
FlatOut - been looking forward to this one. Let me tell you a story. A slightly long time ago, my best friend and I sat up all night playing the demo of this (this was before I had a credit card), and absolutely loved it. I begged my parents to buy it for me, but even when offering to pay them back I had no luck. Because of course, "that Steam program can't be trusted!". Anyway, back to today. The game is just as perfect as I remember. The races are ridiculous. The 'bonus events' are even more ridiculous. They were what got us hooked on the game really, here is an example. Most definitely staying installed.
FlatOut 2 - just as much fun as the first one, with some slightly refined graphics. May as well leave it installed!
Flatout 3 - really disappointing compared with the first two. :( Controls feel a lot less responsive, doesn't appear to be an actual 'career mode', it's all just so wrong. Uninstalled.
FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage - basically just a remake of 2, but that's not a bad thing. Graphics are a lot prettier and the racing is more enjoyable. Not a problem to me but just a warning that this does use GFWL.
