Love adding games like this to my Play library that are also Steam games. I might never play it but I'm glad it's there!

It's kind of a double edged sword... I bought Farming Simulator 16 for Android for 10 cents not expecting much. Turns out I like it. Now I want the Steam version which costs like 30$ and barely goes beyond 10% discount so I can play without my battery constantly dying on me :´(

Well, at least the Android version has gyro controls.

I tend to get the Steam version from bundles first and then grab the Android version on sale. I've been screwed over like your example before, too, with games like Triple Town or Beholder.

Didn't even know Beholder has a mobile version. Gotta keep an eye on that :)

Some shameless self promotion: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blotunga.bote.android - totally free and open source clone of Birth of the Federation (which was basically Master of Orion in the Star Trek universe).

There are many (temporary) free games every day on Google Play, why does this deserve a separate thread?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

there are many constantly free games. but these games are paid. but at the moment is free. and how to steam time must be added to the account
you are sure that all users of the site are constantly on Google what is now a free game? sometimes they should be informed if something interesting.
in steam many also sometimes are temporarily free. but if other users would not be informed in steamgifts - many users missed it

But why would I install another piece of bloatware on my phone when I can get all the information I need right here ?

That's the stupidest question i've seen today.
I won't be wasting time answering obvious questions.

No, it's not a stupid question. I've never considered the idea of even checking if there is an app for that, and I wouldn't have cared for these free games without this thread.

Just grabbed a copy myself.

And if you have it on Steam and own DLC for it, you can use that DLC when you create an Asmodee account.
So no need to buy the DLC twice.

Stupid question from somebody who hasn't been using Android much: Is it not possible to add this to my account without installing it?

(Unlike on the Apple store (or Steam for that matter), where I can just collect temporarily free games on my account and install them months later if I feel like it.)

I think if you're using the Google Play website from your PC you can, but from your phone not that I'm aware of.

What I usually do when I'm doing it from my phone is installing them (this one is only ~34 mb for example) and then uninstall them immediately and check if they have been added to my Collection.

I checked the website first (and the phone too) but I can't find the option on either one, only the Install button.

So it will stay in the collection if I install and uninstall, even if it was temporarily free? Guess I'll do just that then, thanks :)

Maybe it's just my phone not working properly but if I remember correctly when I click Install on the website it only adds the game to my Collection. It never downloaded them automatically when I get back on my phone.

So it will stay in the collection if I install and uninstall, even if it was temporarily free?

Yes, they are added permanently. I did it today with Talisman. There are 2 different tabs for your apps in Google Play. One for Installed games and another one called Collection for those that are not currently installed. It didn't show up immediately in my Collection but after I changed the sorting option from Last Updated to Alphabetical it was there.

There used to be a way to refresh your installed games and Collection by holding your screen and swiping up or down but today it didn't work for me.

Definitely downloaded straight to the phone from the website, did just that just now.

Since it's so small, maybe I'll just leave it installed in case I ever get bored and only have that phone with me and no Internet ;P

I haven't heard anything from them for a while but you can also check out the Amazon Underground app. I got quite a few cool mobile games like Castle of Illusion, DuckTales or Scribblenauts Remix from them for free.

Try to start installing, cancel and check your library

Thanks :) I'll leave it installed for now, but from what you and Sundance said it seems like it will always be there, which is good.

Still weird that I can't just add it to my collection without installing -- I mean even Steam/Valve can do that ;P

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You can. On the phone, you can click Install > Accept > then click the X when it starts downloading the app (It's in the same spot where the Install button was). This will add the game to your library. You can check by clicking the Hamburger menu > My Games & Apps > Library.

Once added to your library, the game is tied to your account as 'purchased' until you manually remove it from your library (which is done by clicking the X behind any entry in the library.)

Tap 'Install' and then immediately cancel the download. The game will now be in your library but not installed.

(Edit: I see it's already been mentioned.)

Install AppSales and don't miss out on games going free (or on sale).

I have long established it. in the mobile Internet I include rarely. the application never notifies. only in manual it is necessary to include.
do you think all users of this site are using this app and are constantly monitoring the promotion?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think that all people interested in Android games are using Android, most likely on a regular basis. AppSales has never failed to alert me to sales, and even if it doesn't and you have to run it, I don't see how that's more difficult to look at a thread in SG. It's a lot more comprehensive than what's posted here.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't post here. However, AppSales is definitely a good tool for those wishing to find Android deals and free games.

It should be saved in your library, as in linked to your account so even if you uninstall it, you can just install it again later from there.
