Hello and welcome to the madness!
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.

The prize: Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.

Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.

FAQ:

Why you doing this?

I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for over six years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.

I've played the first X minutes of a game, can I pick it for the event?

No. You cannot have any play time or achievements prior to the start of the event. The only exception is idle time from farming Steam cards.

Can I play a MP only game?

No. It needs to have an "end" in order for me to count it as beaten, so it needs to have a campaign/story mode.

If a game was sold as a non-Steam copy in a bundle (origin/uplay/drm-free/etc), can I pick it as a choice if I own a Steam copy?

No. The reason being that those who own a Steam copy would have an extra option that would not be available to everyone who bought the same bundle. If the game was originally sold as a non-Steam copy, but Humble later provided steam keys to everyone who bought the bundle, then the game would be allowed.

Why six games?

The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.

How long are you going to do this?

Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.

This event "ends" on October 4th when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time.

Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and please come save me ;-;.

P.S. Just a small note: The event will go on a short hiatus for the month of October and will resume on November 1st. Reason being is that I'll be on vacation and I can't be bothered.

I just bought AC Valhalla on Fanatical but I can't resist a good MIAM so I'll alternate Ubi and Steam this month!
Let's start with one I should have played a long time ago already (while my anxiety levels are in check)

It feels like I was anticipating Little Nightmares too much and let myself down a little. It was good. Just not as good as I thought it would be.
Could also be that I was pissed off about the DLC achievement thing. I hate it when devs do that even though I'm not a completionist.

I'm not really sure what Retrowave is supposed to be. I am aiming at 100% but it may take a little longer and I feel I 've already been playing for years, it's so monotonous. I thought it was a retro racer but apparently I was mistaken. It's a retro... driver? I don't really know.
Anyway I bought everything I could buy, beat every mode and unlocked every achievement but the extreme grind ones so I hope it's enough to consider it beaten. I may 100% it before the month ends, let's see.

Onto Quantum Break
Now this one, I couldn't play for a long time because my old laptop would have gone supernova so I was itching to play it. Actually pretty impressed despite the high expectations. The narrative is top notch. It really feels like a great movie with intense action scenes you get to participate in. All the collecting got a bit repetitive but in for a penny...
The interrupting "show" with average acting (for the most part) and boring side characters... I could have live without. But all in all, it was a really good game. I guess it's good since I'll have to replay it to unlock the last 6 achievements.

Speaking of narrative game, I was disappointed by how basic and boring what passes for a storyline in Plague Tale was. The gameplay was alright. Terribly repetitive but well, there aren't that many stealth focused games so it was alright I guess. But wow did they make zero effort on the "story" part. It's 45 mn of boring scenes and pointless dialogue with a one dimensional villain and an ending that's not an ending at all.
It was probably the wrong game to play right after Quantum Break but damn, I was hoping for more.

Mafia III was intense. I still have the DLC to play and quite a few side missions (not to mention working my way around the massive load of glitched achievements I already achieved but didn't get my cheevos for!) but I'm done with the story. I know it's not the favorite in the trilogy and I am sure it has a lot to do with how bugged the game still is but I enjoyed it so I am looking forward to playing the other two games if they're better than this one!

Not much time left so I'll pick a quick one for the last game this month. Distance was ok. It starts fun but then it gets very hard and kinda frustrating. I don't know how many times I restarted some of the last levels. I honestly thought I was going to give up and pick another game... and then all of a sudden it was over. The racing is fun though so I may play some more. Just not in the "campaign" mode, which, let's be honest, had no story whatsoever.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl - Beaten (Achievement: Everything is Connected)
Omno - Beaten (Achievement: The Ascendant)
Retrowave - Beaten
Evan's Remains - Beaten (Achievement: You did it.)
Kona - Beaten (Achievement: A Mari Usque Ad Mare)
Ghostrunner - Beaten (Achievement: Finish Line)

I enjoyed Ghostrunner a lot after getting the hang of it. Omno was a very relaxing adventure as long as you don't mind the lack of challenge

Doesn't the game have to have a story mode?

Rules above:

Can I play a MP only game?

No. It needs to have an "end" in order for me to count it as beaten, so it needs to have a campaign/story mode.

and a google search shows that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has no story mode

Unfortunately, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl does not contain a story mode for players to enjoy.

It still has an arcade mode and most of the achievements are single player (vs CPU including various ones for completing arcade mode)

I try to be as flexible as possible and if there is anything that even remotely resembles a campaign, I'll take it. I rather peeps pick games that have obvious story modes to save me the trouble, but it's w/e :p.

Sorry for the delay but I had to look into this a bit.

For Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, I'll accept it so long you have the achievement "Everything is Connected". Apparently it is very easy and quick to complete a single arcade run, so I figured this would be the best way to mitigate it.

I have visited these threads almost every month for quite some time but this is the first time I noticed that we could choose games from multiple months.
It's a bit late now for me to be able to complete 6 games, but I would like to try in the next event (Nov).
Hopefully commenting this will make me more likely to actually participate

My bad....just to clarify

  1. Oh, I didn't realize it had started just two days ago. I was considering that it's already 10th Sep, so beleive that I had already lost 10 days.
  2. I have already started the BLAEO & PAGYWOSG challenges for this month, and I chose a slightly long game this time. Had I known before, I could have either chosen some games that fits all the challenge themes, or gone for shorter games. I am a really slow gamers, as I like to explore and kinda study the game worlds.

That is correct. You can pick and choose from any Humble Monthly/Choice bundle so long as a Steam copy was provided.

want to ask & clarify for next event (November) if you don't mind,

The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.

  • Does that mean every month the event started when this thread was posted? not at the start of the month?
  • Play 6/7 never played game (except idle time for card) which were/was part of the humble choice bundle.
  • Do I need to post it here before start playing or it's fine to post it when done?

INSIDE was recently bought on the last sale with a crazy -90% discount so I decided not to shelve it. 😃
