It's basically a free week to try before you buy. 50% off ($10) for the base game and The Morrowind Chapter isn't bad at all, it's a good MMORPG. If you play casually then you might be fine with just the base game and Morrowind. If you know you are going to get heavily invested you should just pick up Elsweyr for $35.99 on sale right now and it includes the base game, Morrorwind, Summerset and the Elsweyr chapters as well as the Plus Membership which is $14.99 a month which includes a ton of content, perks etc.

With ESO you can buy the latest expansion Elsweyr for $35.99 right now(normally $59.99) and it does include the base game and the other 2 expansions as well. You also have the option to get a really cheap deal and get just the base game and Morrowind for $9.99. I noticed I didn't do the best job at mentioning that in the first comment so I ended up editing it.

Not that I'm aware of. Here's where things kind of get crappy..the Standard Edition doesn't include Summerset. And if you get the "Elsweyr Upgrade" you wouldn't get Summerset either, you'd need to purchase "Elsweyr" which includes Elsweyr, the base game, Summerset and Morrowind expansions.

Meh, I got kinda hyped, then I learned it's just a free week. You don't get to keep the game, so... not really free, is it? ;)

Yeah the title of the thread as well as what's in the OP are very misleading and really should be changed to reflect what it actually is.

Title of the post is misleading as it's only free until the 2nd of September

I already own the main game, but I'm sad that the game's basically unplayable since the inventory size is so small that it's impossible to play the game enjoyably. Of course, you can buy the premium subscription, but fuck that. I already paid for the game, why should I pay to make the game playable?

I never knew they make players pay for something as basic as a good inventory size! I feel it would be alright if the game was completely free to begin with (like LotRO) and there was really good stuff in it -- but paying full price for a game and then having to pay more on top of that just to get the bare minimum to play enjoyably sounds shady!

You can and should expand your inventory and bank space with gold normally as you play, though. Real problem is the crafters bag which you need to sub for and holds INDEFINITE amount of crafting materials which would otherwise occupy your regular inventory. You can craft without it, but it'll be a chore with constant bank visits and weighing what you want to keep and what not to.

While I'm pretty sure you couldn't expand anything with normal gold, I'll take your word for it since it's obvious that they've been actively working on the game.
How much can you expand the inventory/bank space? Is the route of using gold actually feasible or is it more of a PR move so they can say "Nah guys, you can totally not pay us!"?
If it's a reasonable mechanic, then I might give the game another shot.

Believe me when I say I was as shocked as you at first. For inventory you go to bag merchants and bank, well, banker.

https://elderscrollsonline.info/guides/how-to-increase-inventory-space-in-eso
Personal Inventory Space: Visit a bag merchant at the Marketplace where you can increase your inventory slots by 10, to a new maximum of 70, for 400 gold per increase. The next maximum of 80 Inventory slots will cost you 2 000 gold. The max number of inventory slots is 110.
-
Personal Bank: You can store up to 60 items in the bank at the start. Items placed in the bank are shared between all characters on the account. The max number of bank inventory slots is 240. Bankers can be found in any larger city. You can notice their location by the map icon that resembles a small chest. Crafting materials stored in the bank don’t need to be placed in personal inventory in order to be used for crafting.

The business model that Bethesda chose for ESO is weird. They basically took things from each of the 3 business model types, free 2 play, pay to play and subscription based and made some weird hybrid that doesn't feel like a complete experience at times.

That's NOTHING lol. Any of you ever play Archeage? lol

I don't know if it is working for free users, but if you also have Twitch Prime, you can get a mount and a pet.

Same, the OP should have mentioned it was a free week.

It was a 85 gb Steam download if I remember correctly. And after that the EO will start updating and downloading all kinds of data which took about half an hour with a 30mb download.
Anyway. Worth to check it out if youre into that kind of game.
Anyway, I have plenty of HD space. Still remaining from those days when storing movies, series and games was still a thing ;)

It says 103GB on the installation screen though :P Maybe that includes all the necessary patches to run the game
I'm pretty sure I would love trying and playing ESO but I don't think I can clear up that much hard drive space just for it. I used the space to install a bunch of other games that are free-to-play for the weekend instead :) That's the problem with using a gaming laptop I guess - you can't squeeze more hard drives into it :P
